I learned today that BIAB for Mac doesn't include the Medley Maker feature, which is gutting.
Considering that the Mac version costs exactly the same as the Windows version, I wonder what other features are missing... anyone know?

The Mac version gets closer and closer to the Windows version with each new release. However, the Chord Tutor in the Guitar Window on a pc offers a wide range of alternate guitar tunings, along with additional instruments like banjo, ukulele, and mandolin, all of which are missing in the Mac version. Since I play multiple instruments I am really looking forward to this being added to the Mac BIAB. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=657972#Post657972

Guitarist, Should you decide to place a post in the +++ Band-in-a-Box Wishlist forum section +++ for the Mac Guitar fretboard window to offer all the display options available in the Windows Guitar fretboard window I will be happy to add my +1 to show my support for the request. Sometimes it is difficult for users to identify differences between the Mac and Windows programs. When differences are noted a wishlist post allows other users the opportunity to discuss or support the request.

Shucks Guitarist, I feel a little embarrassed now. I apologize for not remembering. I hope a lot of other users will continue to jump on the bandwagon and support your request. It's got a lot of like and no dislikes already.

The one thing the Windows version has that I wish was in the Mac version is RealBand. Yeah, I know, it's not exactly in Band-In-A-Box, since it's a standalone program, but it's been my DAW of choice since I bought the Windows version of BIAB three years ago. Nowadays I do most of the prep work on the Mac side because I prefer the Mac and I have a nice powerful MacBook Pro that glides through BIAB, and it would be nice not to have to switch platforms to do the mixing and production.

RealBand for Mac has been requested multiple times in the Wishlist section by Mac users. However, I can't imagine PG Music investing in a Mac RealBand program at this stage. First, RealBand is free to BiaB for Windows users so there is no money incentive. Second Mac users have GarageBand and a free plugin that performs many BiaB functions in the DAW. It only takes a few moments to post the request though.

I wish I could come up with a financial incentive for PG Music to do a Mac version of RealBand, but nothing comes to mind.
I've tried GarageBand, but for whatever reason I just haven't warmed up to it. Maybe I should give some of the other DAWs out there a try and see if I like any of them.

TS. more than a few people use reaper for mac. www.reaper.fm plus a ton of great user videos. talk to people on the reaper forum mac section if you doubt me..and ask them what they think. it'll run like a bunny rabbit with a small footprint on your mac b pro. (i use reaps on pc and love it.) you can also try reaps for free. but please give them the 60 buks if you do. lots of pg users use reaps. also if i remember traction waveform free have a version for mac. looks nice. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-freethere is also studio 1 for mac and many others. hth oldmuso

Tuneslayer, I never got along well with GarageBand either, but I got its big brother Logic Pro and love it. I've been using it for years now. Logic is now available as a free 90-day trial if you'd like to check it out. https://www.apple.com/logic-pro/trial/Many years ago I bought Tracktion and used it for a while. It's now called Waveform and since a free version is available, it's well worth a look. The only caveat is that the user interface is quite different from any other DAW that I've seen. It's very logical and simple once you get the hang of it though. If I didn't already have Logic Pro, I think I would probably get Reaper, as justanoldmuso suggests. You can get a free 60-day trial and if you decide to buy, it's very affordable. Ron

Thank you all for your comments and recommendations. I downloaded Reaper for evaluation yesterday to see if it fits my needs and how well BIAB integrates with it. I'll most likely do the same for Logic sometime this week.
Much of the reason I've stuck with RealBand has been that I didn't have to lay out any extra money for it and it's sufficiently similar to BIAB for me to start learning right away. The first is important because I'm on a fixed income at the moment and don't have a lot of money to spend on a hobby; the second, because I know practically nothing about mixing and production, and anything that makes the process easier is all to the good.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
