Summer Nevermore Back to normal pop-rock style with this timely song when summer is over and chilly autumn days are present (at least here in the north). Lyrically maybe not very interesting, but I hope it brings back warm and sunny summer images I really like those RT guitars, especially the sound of the held one inspired the chord progression and the mood of the song. All comments welcome! RealDrums: FunkSlightSwing RealTracks: Electric bass #1433 Organ #689 Synth Piano #2277 Electric guitar Clean #862 Electric guitar rhythm RootsRockDirty Held #636 Electric guitar Soul #1402 Electric guitar solo #2689 MIDI: Flute Vocals by me Mixed in Cakewalk by BandLab Lyrics: Observing a brood of eiders brisk beneath the bluest summer sky watching in the evening hush a sailboat swinging slowly by. A tender moment my joy is burning bright it is stretching towards your loving light. You let me grow and bloom just the way I was I felt alive, not stunted on a pause now your love shines somewhere else I'm unseen on the shore we didn't meet again this summer nevermore. The soothing scent of your presence a touch of heaven in your glowing gush the pleasure on the steaming stone the foaming of the rapids rush. Your smile at dawning will make all pigeons coo the lips alluring request new rendezvous. You let me grow... You are now just a memory from the round rocks of the idyll isle the fortune to lay by your side lasted for a wistful while Where are you hiding my skin is cracked and chilled I am pining my flask not been refilled. You let me grow... I'm reading nature's signs will you rise again for me what do you want to keep in secrecy. If you arrive my love I surrender to your throne if not I'm buried underneath a stone. ---------------- Janne

Nice breezy rock tune, particularly liked the chorus section, nice melody.
The midi flute sounds good and the overall production is very nice.
Good work.

Janne,
Very nice job with the band on this! That guitar part during intro and between verses is a super choice! The melody, especially during the chorus, is wonderful! Definitely a "summer like" vibe! Thanks, Torrey

Great band. The solos and fills are excellent.
Nice cover art too...the various fungi are showing off all through our surrounding forest.
That melody is exceptional.
Well done and we enjoyed it!

The Janne signature sound is always within the arrangement. Nice work - tides ebb, relationships too. We're coming toward summer on the opposite side of the planet. "idyll isle" - now that's marketing.

Many others have already commented on your melody, Janne. Yes, that is the part the really grabs you in this song. It rolls up and down in a very entertaining way. Good band and production, too. Your lyrics are top-notch, man. They tell a story of what once was and the hope that it will be again.

Thanks Mr. TuneMonger, I appreciate your kind words It seems that I have succeeded with the chorus, because I've got so many nice comments about it. Glad you liked the lyrics also, I know I should be more straightforward, to keep things simple, but it is usually difficult when you have too much to say... Janne

Hi Janne, Good work on this tune. Catchy choruses and very nice solo. Clear mix > listens well. Liked that phrasing: "If you arrive my love I surrender to your throne if not I'm buried underneath a stone."
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks fj, I appreciate your valuable feedback thanks for mentioning the bass sound, BIAB basses usually lose something when I mix them so I'm glad that I succeeded this time at least (although I thought it was mixed bit too loud). Janne

Janne this excellent! I agree with the others about the vocal, i.e. outstanding. Love that B3 in the background as well as those guitar leads. The other backing tracks support them perfectly. A great mix also.
Two thumbs up.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I see I missed this. My schedule makes it hard to keep up with the forum.
You have a knack for creating interesting instrumentation on your songs.
As already mention, nice melody on the chorus---as it should be.
Yes, lyrics are full of summer imagery.

Hi Janne,
I have missed your song completely I see! Sorry for that.
It's a very nice song, especially the chorusses are very cool. Also are the 'sweet' lyrics. Lovely! And let me not forget the band. That played very well too. You must have had a lot of work on this all.
It's a genuine Jannesan song. I enjoyed it! Hans

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
