Last year, although it wasn't a "bug", requests were made for a convenience feature to be added to the Style Picker Window's tempo box (Just below where it says, "Play Using Current Chordsheet for song").
The requests proposed adding a feature that would allow the tempo box to use the tempo of the current song (which is reflected on the current chordsheet) instead of the suggested tempo(s) of the style(s) being auditioned.
PG Music acknowledged the requests and, in version 2021 (#845), I found it had been implemented. YAY!
I spend a lot of time "Style Fishing" and I really enjoyed the time-saving convenience that particular added feature allowed.
However, as of BB2022 (#s 908, 912, and 914), the SPW is no longer using the tempo posted on the Current ChordSheet! Instead, the tempo box has gone back to using the suggested style tempos only.
If some users prefer the Style-suggested tempo over the Current Chordsheet tempo, it possible that some type of toggle switch could be added to the StylePicker window, or Preferences, or both?
Personally, I was fine with the window using the current chordsheet tempo only!
In any case, please bring back the "Use Current Chordsheet Tempo" time-saving convenience feature to the StylePicker's tempo box window.
I didn't understand, the English is too bad ....^^
What do you mean by the "English is too bad"?
People from all over the world use these forums to get help and it always amazes me that they do their very best to explain their problem in English. For some people this is a very challenging thing to do because English is not their first language.
Quite honestly, given the worldwide nature of these forums, it's not a good idea to criticise people's ability to speak English.
I can only imagine the kind of messed language I'd type if I tried to talk in French. I only studied it for two years at high school. And that was a few decades ago.
Noel, thanks for the insight. I forgot about the Action button content.
Hi Jim,
BIAB is so feature-rich these days that I often find myself forgetting about things. This is especially true when I don't use the features but just rely on recalling what I've read somewhere, sometime!
That's why I really like these forums. Everyone's contributions help keep my on top of what BIAB can do!
3. Deactivate "Change 4 bar preview tempo..." — by default, this setting is active.
The setting can also be deactivated using the checkbox below "Load Song Demo" in Style picker.
I hope this helps. Noel
Thanks Noel96,
Your info and graphic did the "trick" for me!
Then, to satisfy my own curiosity, I fired-up BB2021 build #845 to see the status of the StylePicker Options checkmarks.
Here's what I found:
"Change 4 bar preview tempo..." was unchecked... and "Always change tempo to best tempo..." was deactivated as well!
So I guess I, like Jim Fogle... (Hi Jim!), forgot about the Action button content. Or, did PG Music change that window's default setting in a 2021 update?
In either case, I've got my answer and I'm a "happy camper" regarding my SPW tempo box help request.
Thanks again Noel96. I really appreciate you and the people in this forum community who try to help everyone who posts here.
I've got one more issue regarding Preferences Channels that's been on my mind for some time now but I'll bring it up in a separate thread so that I can mark this thread as RESOLVED!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
