This song is from the mid 90's...it's an attempt at writing my own psalm after reading some of King David's heartfelt lyrics from the scripture...he played the harp and wrote a great many songs(psalms)...I don't know what they would have sounded like but mine is a bit folky in it's nature...if you do, thanks for listening...Dan

This is a really good song!

Catchy and pleasant melody.

Your vocal is really good--impassioned and light where it needs to be. Excellent BGVs.

Hello, 'firesong'...

Concerning the quotation that appears on your 'signature' page:

"You are who you are because you do what you do because of what you believe." I agree, with only one exception. Are those your own words?

Regardless, your song, 'My Psalm', is a balm to the heart and blessing on the ears. It radiates a sense of security and serenity. Your voice combined with those of the men who perform the harmony creates a soothing, reassuring sound that could make a body glad that he/she has a contemplative soul to perceive and enjoy the 'message' in your lyrics.

bluage...thanks for your gracious comments...you summed up what I hope this song will always convey...I sang with these men for over twenty years and Gene for more than forty years.

Regarding the quote, it is not my words...I heard a Greek professor from Asbury Theological Seminary say this about 38 years ago and I started writing it down on the inside cover of my Bibles ever since...it has become the philosophy of my life...I have contemplated it for almost 40 years and believe it is unequivocally true...we are defined by what we do, but what we do is initiated by what we believe therefor we are ultimately defined by what we believe...just as the scripture teaches...that is my philosophy albeit not everyone's.

What is the exception?

firesong,

I have a feeling King David would say...Amen! That's how I feel!

You maintain your high standard of excellent lead and background vocals here! Your instrumentation choices are perfect! They create such a smooth laid-back atmosphere to carry the wonderful lyric content! Thanks, Torrey

Dear 'firesong'...

For me, the sole exception would be 'outside' forces over which one has no control, that intervene to change a person's behavior because he/she cannot protect themselves from such sudden and destructive ruptures in their lives. I am thinking mostly of children (innocents) who live in spirit-withering conditions due to grievous dysfunctions in their family life.

bluage...Without getting into along philosophical discussion...I will certainly agree that the ones who have no choice in the circumstances that confront them and are forced to do things they may not "believe in" would seem to be the exception to my statement...freed from such bondage I tend to believe they would then do what they "do believe in"...the discussion of this is far too complex and unwanted for a BiaB forum...I would however be glad to enter into such a discussion if you care to contact me privately...thanks for brining it up and I appreciate your thoughtful comments...best regards...Dan

Catchy and upbeat - a very '70s folk, in the best way.

The fiddle break is a treat.

Harmonies are very pretty.

As bluage said, a really nice song! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I'm late to the party but super glad that I made it.

Great song with some super lead and harmony voices and a super chord progression.

Super mix and instrumentation. It was the lyrics that took it over the top for me, great writing.

Loved it.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
