I have been trying to add an old GM midi instrument patch no 50 slow strings to a song with Real Tracks. It will not add or open. A Midi super track DOES add and work !! Checked midi settings all seems correct. What's the problem. BIAB 2022 build 912

Presumably you are adding this to the Melody track or Soloist track? or one of the the Utility tracks? What method did you use? E.g. Did you right-click and choose 'Select custom MIDI style'?

i'm not sure about this, but i think a midi supertrack loads sforzando as the synth automatically. so there is a midi track and a synth to play it on.
do you have the option 'divert to default dxi/vst synth' set in the midi driver set up?
i rarely use BIAB for anything other than roughing out a song so i may be confused. when you select the track to add the midi to, what does the plugin tab show? does it show your default synth?

again i'm guessing but is the strings track enabled in the main window task bar?
Selecting a General MIDI patch for a blank track will do absolutely nothing, since there are no MIDI notes for it to play. MIDI SuperTracks are different, they generate MIDI notes.
You could use the "custom MIDI style" method that VideoTrack suggested to use a track from an existing MIDI style. If that's not working you need to be more specific about what you are doing and we might spot the problem.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
