28 original songs in one day contest.

They must be done in at least three genres.
They must contain at least one song in 12/8, 4/4 and 3/4 time.
They must contain one song in G flat or F# or C# (extra points for C#)
They must be at least one minute long.
They must contain lyrics.
They must contain at least one instrument.
They must contain a vocal.
They must be original.
They can be recorded in any way you like.

So...which one of you hotshots, humdinger, dead ringer, call yourself a singer would like to take on that challenge?

Entry fee of $10 each in the pot and winner take all to be decided by Notes Norton because we don't want to have to compete with him!

Of course, you could cheat and use stuff you have already written if you wanted to be a low-life, sub-humanoid, genetically defective musician.

I got $10 bucks. How about you?

Billy

Billy,

I would take you on but each time I wrestle you to the ground after one of your absurd challenges, you start crying like a baby.

Why do it again.

I want you to feel good about yourself.

UNLESS, you want me to do it to show you I can and push some of the random jams to the bottom of page six, but then people would hate me too.

So I better not.

Get some sleep Billy.

Assuming..... 8 hrs to the working day.... with 60 minutes per hour equals 480 total minutes, not counting time required for bathroom breaks and eating or drinking to remain hydrated and functional. I understand that you can chew and pick at the same time but drinking and singing proves to require a bit more coordination to pull off in a believable manner.

All that to say it gives you 17.14285714 minutes per song to be brilliant, record it, and upload it as proof that the deed was done.

No sweat...right?

And of course.... no one is saying you are limited to a straight up 8 hr day either..... Nothing like bloody fingers from a 20 hr guitar marathon.

I think one could record 28 songs in one day.

1-choose a RT style and limit the song to 2-3 minutes
2-take what BiaB gives you, i.e. no doctoring the RTs
3-play an instrumental lead over it, i.e no vocals
4-save song
5-repeat 1-4

The quantity would be here but probably not the quality.

YMMV

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Mario,

Sorry man but there are at least 4 forumites who are already doing this and posting their masterworks almost daily.

10 years too late friend.

YMMV.

You guys just want to make it harder than necessary.

!. Set up your instrument ready to play.
2. Turn on your recorder.
3. Play and sing a one-minute song.
4. Repeat 27 more times.
5. Up load the whole load of crap to soundcloud and say the number after each song because many will not be able to count to 28.

Problems you may run into.
!. You don't know how to play any instrument, that would make it considerably more difficult.
2. You have never seen Lightnin'Hopkins do stuff like that live so you assume it can not be done.
3. Your internet connection is so slow it takes three days to upload that much data.
4. You don't know how to count in 12/8 or 3/4 or 4/4 time, but this is really a minor problem because there was never a requirement to play in time, to begin with so who is to say what time signature you are using.
5. You have never stood up and played four or five sets of music in a bar.
6. Just bang around on the black keys on the piano and we will call that C# or close enough to get you extra points.
&. Don't forget to start at least six of the songs out with "woke up this morning" cause lots of stuff happens when you wake up like "my wife brought me coffee in bed", or "that bullet just missed my head" or " I am so hungover I wish I was dead", or "when I woke up this morning you won't believe what she said" and 96 more words that rhyme with red...

The only thing that could really cause you to fail is a lack of motivation.
Could you do this for twenty million in cash? Could you do this to save someone's life?

Nothing was said about any of these songs being great or even good.

Can't be done never could get it done!

Have fun,

Billy

Would your time not be better served to write 1 GOOD song than 28 with lyrics like "I like cheese. You like cheese. If you like cheese then tell me please." There. There's one. "Airplanes airplanes fly so high. Way up there up in the sky." There's 2.

There are 2 guys who do a lot of Youtube (but never seems to play anywhere, unless they are studio jingle writing types) that did 10 songs in one day, and all 10 nothing were more than a joke. The stupidest lyrics. The simplest chord changes.

It was funny to watch but really nothing of quality came from 2 extremely talented guys and I just wonder why they even did it. Trying to remember their names...

Andrew Huang and Rob Scallon. That's who it was. Huang is incredibly talented with synthesis, but sadly he is losing his hearing. He is also all wrapped up into that electric dance crap that I personally have zero interest in so there's also that.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?
2. Send it to us.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
