The Gates of BabylonYou sit alone at the table, while I take my coffee in bed Our happy home's just a no-man's land where even angels refuse to tread
Angry words fall silent now that we've said much too much I hold back my hurt inside; You hold back your touch
I could scale the Zagros mountains, or be covered by salty sea But I can't bridge this emptiness dividing you from me
Close your eyes and pray for sleep, but prayers fall on deaf ears We hold our breath and count the hours until the morning sun reappears
Lost without direction, unwilling to turn around Falling apart together, divided on common ground
I could scale the Zagros mountains, or be covered by salty sea But I can't bridge this emptiness dividing you from me
So many bridges burned, too many chances gone Now that we've been turned away at the gates of Babylon
I could scale the Zagros mountains, or be covered by salty sea But I can't bridge this emptiness dividing you from meRealTracks364 - Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev065 366 - Bass, Electric, Country Ev 065 891 - Piano, Acoustic, Solo Accompaniment PopLiverpool Ev065 897 - Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Rhythm FolkRock Ev16 065 908 - Bass, Electric, SmoothBallad Ev16 065 910 - Piano, Electric, Rhythm SmoothBallad Ev16 065 1074 - Piano, Electric, Soloist SmoothJazzBallad delay Ev16 065 1543 - SynthPad, PopBelieve Ev16 065 1676 - Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking CountryBrent Ev 065 1064 - Trumpet, Soloist SmoothJazzBallad Ev16 065 Main Vocal: SynthesizerV (Eleanor Forte AI) Backing Vocal: SynthesizerV (Solaria, Eleanor Forte AI) Trumpet; WIVI Band (Trumpet) Signal ChainMaster Buss: Lurssen Mastering Console (American Tight (Less Glue)) Lead Vocal: Greg Wells VocalCentric (Lead Vocal) Background Vocal 1: Lead Vocal: Greg Wells VocalCentric (Lead Vocal) Background Vocal 1: Lead Vocal: Waves Doubler, Greg Wells VocalCentric (Lead Vocal), Reaper Delay Vocal Reverb Buss: LX 480 Essential (Joe C Vocal Warm Ballad) Piano: EZMix (Piano) Chorused Piano 1: EZMix (Very Stereo Wet Chorus) Electric Piano Lead: Finisher Retro (Suitcase Panner) Bass: EZMix (Bass Clean) Trumpet Solo: ReaVerb (Jazz Hall) Trumpet Solo: WIVI Band (Trumpet), ReaVerb (Jazz Hall) BackstoryThis is a remix of a song I posted in 2014. The original version was done with Vocaloids, and while the result was pleasant to listen to, I always wanted to re-do it. Since SynthesizerV could import the Vocaloid files, it should be simple enough... right? It would be, if I would stop re-doing the mix. Listen, tweak, listen again, tweak some more... render out and listen again. Lather, rinse, repeat. As usual, the mix is a work in progress. The trumpet solo is actually a mix of the WIVI Band trumpet and a RealTrack. Comments of any sort are encouraged!

Very impressive, David! Love the trumpet. And the vocals are sounding pretty good indeed! I'm waiting for them to offer a deep male voice with a bluesy feel so I won't need to sing on my songs anymore Good song, enjoyed!

"Lost without direction, unwilling to turn around Falling apart together, divided on common ground"
A beautifully written song. SUCH sadness! The synth voice is well done and has SOME emotion - but I would love to hear this sung by a "real singer with chops" - to really bring those emotions home. It's a real tearjerker.
The production is nicely supportive. Doing what it needs to and not "getting in the way". The trumpet is a nice choice.
Nice mix.

Very nice sad song oozing emptiness. Really beautiful melody, reminds me, as usual, of APP. Very good work with Eleanor, although I hear some boominess in her voice, maybe low cut would help, don't know. I've been listening to Solaria songs lately just to make sure she's worth buying, so I probably pay too much attention to the smallest details Excellent instrument selection, very smooth and the trumpet soloist works very well. Hi David, What a lovely song! The music is beautiful and this Vocaloid is so much better than the synth voices used to be. It almost sounds human. We agree with Floyd however, that a human voice might perfect it. A real singer could sing "before or after the count" for instance. Don't know if that's the right expression in English. We mean: not one syllable exactly on one beat, but just before or after it. It makes the melody more lively. But... a treat to the ear ! Rob and Anne-Marie

David, Smooth arrangement. Nice poetic lyrics and amazing effort putting all this together. Trumpet sounds great. I think vocals are not leveled throughout the song. At times, it seems they overpower everything else. Don't hold me to it, maybe I am hallucinating. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

Very impressive, David! Love the trumpet. And the vocals are sounding pretty good indeed! Hi, Dave. Thanks! That's about half me on MIDI and half Band in a Box on the trumpet. The first half of the BiaB solo was a jazzy riff that didn't fit at all, but the second half was perfect. I was surprised how well the two different instruments blended here. The end solo is all BiaB. Love the trumpet! I'm waiting for them to offer a deep male voice with a bluesy feel so I won't need to sing on my songs anymore Ha! The male voices are really lacking, so you're safe for now. Thanks for taking the time to listen and the positive comments!

A beautifully written song. SUCH sadness! Hi, floyd jane. Thanks, it's one of the few songs that I'm really happy with the lyrics. The synth voice is well done and has SOME emotion - but I would love to hear this sung by a "real singer with chops" - to really bring those emotions home. It's a real tearjerker. All right, I'll start giving it some serious consideration. The production is nicely supportive. Doing what it needs to and not "getting in the way". The trumpet is a nice choice.
Nice mix. It's always good to hear that, especially from you. I haven't quite learned to trust my ears, but I'm working on it. Thanks again - I appreciate your feedback!

Very nice sad song oozing emptiness. Really beautiful melody, reminds me, as usual, of APP. Since I'm a big APP fan myself, I'll take that as the compliment it is. Very good work with Eleanor, although I hear some boominess in her voice, maybe low cut would help, don't know. I've been listening to Solaria songs lately just to make sure she's worth buying, so I probably pay too much attention to the smallest details I thought that's what details were for - to pay attention to! I'll have another listen and see if I can hear the low end. It may be the other voices that are causing the issue as well. Thanks for your close attention!

What a lovely song! The music is beautiful and this Vocaloid is so much better than the synth voices used to be. It almost sounds human. I know what's coming... We agree with Floyd however, that a human voice might perfect it. OK, OK... I get it. Don't expect something right away, though! A real singer could sing "before or after the count" for instance. Don't know if that's the right expression in English. We mean: not one syllable exactly on one beat, but just before or after it. It makes the melody more lively. I know exactly what you're saying. The sad thing is, that's actually what I've done here - nudged the notes around the beat by an 8th or 16th note. But a real singer can do the same thing and make it sound natural and musical. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment!

David, you are a master of AI vocals. They are starting to sound very organic! I don't know about that - I heard a demo posted the other day that sounded almost good enough to fool floyd jane! Super lyrics, arrangement, and mix.[
Outstanding trumpet!

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
