Yadadadah Dah-Dah, Yadadadah Dah-Dah! laugh

Ok, so yes, maybe it doesn't 'gel' with anything in the existing RT department for a mix-n-match so it can't be used for anything else, but - Turn this beauty on when your "1-Man-Band-Show" is long gone south and nobody is listening anymore, and you have an instant PARTY in the room, who-hoo!! grin

NOBODY can resist the Conga!!! cool

I’ve had my percussionist play congas on what I thought were unlikely songs, like 60s BlueNote jazz. It seems there’s always room for conga!

While I appreciate the moral support, Mr. Finley, I think you may have slightly misunderstood what I meant by the term Conga. It's not about an instrument, but a style/rhythm. Actually a dance, if that rings the correct bells for you.

Take a look at the first line of what I wrote (in bold), that's the rhythm/style I'm asking for. You must've seen this dance (traditionally danced by all in a single line, each holding onto the next person in front), even if I suppose it's perhaps not as common in N-America as elsewhere...?

You’re right, I had no idea what your bolder line meant. The dance? Ok.

Hi Icelander,

There were some Conga (the groove/style, not the instrument) styles that we recorded quite a while ago:

-CONGMOD
-CONGFOK

Is that the kind of thing you had in mind? Those styles have real percussion, but it's midi drums/bass/piano/etc. But, if that's what you were thinking of, real instruments for the bass, etc. could potentially be added in the future.

Yeah no, sorry. It's an admirable effort, but those two are just very generic salsa-esque styles, with lots of varied percussions and other varied fanciness. My "Conga" is anything but varied smirk
It's essentially just a 1-bar riff that is always the same pattern (and that's where my "doesn't gel" remark stems from). Failing to conform to that pattern, specifically to those "Dah Dah" stops at the end of the bar every, single time is simply NOT Conga! crazy

I have the same gripe with your Charleston, btw, since to me only the A-part gets it right in that one... and you still have no designated Charleston RD to conform properly to that style either, I might add (let alone RTs).

Icelander, I believe I might grasp what you're after --

It's that basic, totally unwavering Ev8 Conga-line dance rhythm of "1-2-3-UNH! 1-2-3-UNH! 1-2-3-UNH!" on & on ad infinatum...

The classic hallmark of every 1940s South of Miami movie AND every drunken adult party in the 1950s as the aunts & uncles & neighbors danced around the house, backyard, etc., to the dismay of all their kids...

Tobin, yes, he's correct. I haven't heard THAT particular rhythm in the congas yet, either. And I use the Conga tracks A LOT!

That WOULD be a great add!

Here's something along those lines

So, the one thing about that, is that you have to actually go in and add the pushes to the chords. For an actual "conga line" style, you'd probably just want to type chords like: | C |F |F |C | and have it play like that. It might be possible to add features that could emulate what I did to get that sample, without the user having to enter those pushes & holds.

Well, the bass is still not right (too complex) but you're definitely getting there cool

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
