Hello everyone, I thougt I will keep my After All-project with 2 versions here on the forum, but just now changed my mind. This one is called After All, version 2, https://soundcloud.com/user-296497130/after-all-version2The lyrics are (almost the same as version 6 (and i'm planning to let you hear all 6 versions these months ;-) I made some other songs the last weeks, but then suffered that mean virus Corona. I'm still super contagious and my wife too, so I thought you have to hear all these songs very soon. You never know. But first this one. and you know why? Because on the other versions I heard severall folks here say I won't be able to make a better one than version 6 (that was the one I posted after version 1, do you still understand?). But just now I noticed that after two weeks having that awful virus the forum has exploded with new songs. I was astonished. Were you waiting for another song, or maybe a couple of them from me? But after a tiny glass of rum I thought; "yes, you want to hear my song(s) too". So here it is. Tell me if you want the other 3 versions as well... Hans

ALWAYS enjoy your songs, Hans. Your alternate takes all stand on their own as a wonderfully creative version --different ways of presenting the same magic you perform. I like V1 because of it's slow bluesy feel, I really like the instrumentation in V6, V2, the piano version, is maybe my favorite because of the flowing melody. Your vocal is perfect on all of them, but see3ms a tad louder in this one. Stay safe, man.

Excellent intro Hans. Piano was a cool choice for the intro. Super vocal and loved the vocal processing. Loved the change in energy in different parts of the song. Well done

Hi RnAM, Marty and Dave,
Thanks a lot for your comment on the song.
Rob and Anne-Marie; I thought John Lennon was close enough (J&B always compared me with him), but I can live with Elton John too. He's a bit less, but I don't mind ;-)
Marty, since I know I'm on your bucket list, I work very hard not to let you down in your expectations of my songs. And when you said something about the volume of my vocals I immidiate lowered them. But how nice what you said about the three versions. I can tell you, I like them all myself, but prefer version 5. But that has still to come on the forum.
Dave, yes, it's that piano that made the song. I liked it a lot. It was my intention to post only two versions in the forum. I was working on another song but got sick and my voice lowered a lot. Then I heard this song again and with some help (rum) I posted it without furter thinking... And I recovered too!
Have a nice weekend, you all, Hans

I love this version... especially the piano track... This is an excellent production... maybe add just a tiny bit of reverb to the harmonica... Great work here...

Hans,
I love that bluesy soulful vocal delivery! This song picks up nicely as it progresses! Your vocals are excellent! The piano really sounds great! The mix is sounding great also! I always enjoy your work!
Thanks, Torrey

It's a cool version Hans, your voice has an audio halo around it that really isn't needed...the chorus demonstrates a strong voice that doesn't require the FX support. There's a really loud note on the guitar at 3.05 that "steekt uit als hondenballen" that should/could be tamed. The forum is really busy but not too busy for one of your songs. A really good song.

Hello Andi, David, Scott, Block-head, Torrey and Ray, Thanks for your nice comments, tips and you Dutch (Ray). I had some doubt if I had to post a 3rd version, but as far as I see, no one complained. Maybe they only keep silent? Hello Hans Really amazing what you get out of your song ;-)))) This version is again absolutely brilliant What can I say. I have never heard such different versions of a song in this quality. This should be unique here Great work Hans Many greetings Andi ;-) Andi, if I had to believe all you wrote, I would walk around like a very proud peacock. But tell you what? I did! Until corona got me... Thanks for these nice words. I like it! That rum was right! Hope you have a swift recovery! David, you read my whole post and saw what a tiny glass of rum could do. Thanks! Excellent intro Hans. Piano was a cool choice for the intro. Super vocal and loved the vocal processing. Loved the change in energy in different parts of the song. Well done Scott, the only bad thing was that I couldn't use a slo from your hand in this one. The piano took the lead. Left no space for more. Only that harmonica sneaked in at the end... Thans again for the compliments! I love this version... especially the piano track... This is an excellent production... maybe add just a tiny bit of reverb to the harmonica... Great work here...
And speaking of the harmonica; hi Block-head, normally I add some reverb to all instruments, but here the piano had the lead (and my vocals). But I listened critically to the harmonica and think I will do just what you suggested. Thanks! Hans, I love that bluesy soulful vocal delivery! This song picks up nicely as it progresses! Your vocals are excellent! The piano really sounds great! The mix is sounding great also! I always enjoy your work! Thanks, Torrey Torrey, I wrote to Andi how I walked around here, for some days, because of his words. I forgot to mention you caused the same reaction although I'm not so fond of peacocks. One flew right in my arms from a tree, somewhere on Krete! It was a female! So I told my wife this is a normal women's reaction to me, no matter what species... She still finds me an annoying brag (my wife, not the peacock). So all these memories came back because of your compliments. Thanks! Ray, at first something about the language you used, I meant the Dutch language. 'Hondenballen' don't do that. It's the organ close to it that does such a thing. But I only heard a loud noise about 3;23, but I think you meant that one. To tell you the truth, I was very pleased with that sound (I don't want to mention that peacock again), because it accentuated the start of a new part. And what you said about my vocals; I listened to them a couple of times and looked in my mix. I think it was the beginning of my illness and that it was affecting my vocals. Not much, but I don't use much fx. Only compressing, reverb, delay, etc, etc ;-) But I take it very serious and do it again, while ading some reverb to the harmonica, as Block-head wants me to. A very nice day to you all, Hans

I do love the subject of this thread. It reminds me of Wild Man Fischer singing, "My name is Larry, I have a grandfather, his name is grandfather!"
Much enjoying this now, loved the rhythm trick I just heard with a bar chopped up and passed among the instruments. Piano is so so good and I love how prominent its sound is.
I hear why you are always advising to use vocals. =8^)

We're so sorry you and your wife had Covid, Hans, and hope you both have a full recovery. We love this version with the piano and it supports your very soulful vocal so well! The harmonica fits in nicely - hey, you could've let that guy play a bit more! Now we cannot make up our minds as to a favorite version so far. Enjoyed it! J&B P.S. You'll always be "John" to us.

Hi Mark, Janice and Bud,
Thanks a lot for your reactions. Very kind of you.
Mark, I don't know about that fisherman, but how you quoted him was very funny. That was not the case and cuase in this song, but I'm sure that not what you meant. Glad you saw/heard what I did with the extra bar. I do that more often, but in a technical way it is not correct.
Janice and Bud, I think you wrote your reply together. I'm happy to inform you I am save now, only my wife still has the virus. We are sure before the weekend starts we're both healty and fresh and fruity again (or something like that...) When I read your reply on the version before this one, you raised the bar and this one is the result of that. You don't know what to choose!!! But there will be some more versions and probably one of them will make your confusion even bigger (I hope). Although, in between I will also post some new songs with another theme.
About the harmonica; I gave it a lot more space at first, but then skipped it again. i liked the piano more in the solopart. And I payed him less (...). And: I will continue to do my very best to be worthy of "John"!
Thank you again and have a nice day, Hans

Hi captain!
Oh, I'm almost completely recovered from that nasty virus. A little caugh remains, but I can't infect others, I was told... And I know I can't let you down after all. Still 3 to come, but I will post them in the coming months. I make other songs too, you know. But you will hear them all, unless WWIII breaks out
Enjoy your weekend, Hans

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
