Hi All

I've been away for a while due to a grueling new teaching job working long hours etc and I revisited the User Showcase. I'm really blown away by the quality of the songs appearing on it now. Great productions, catchy tunes in various styles and generally excellent singing. Just wondering if everyone is just getting better at every aspect of the writing, production, mastering cycle, or is it due to some quantum changes in BIAB and various VSTs/DAWs. Anyway, very impressive. I suspect I'll be listening to PG Music Showcase Radio more often now.

PS. I'm becoming a dad again at the ripe old age of 61. I guess they say it's the new 40 - I hope so in my case. eek

First of all congratulations. But when I was 60 my mind thought that I was 40 but my body knew better!

Second I believe it is both the fact that the software is getting better and that our skills are getting better.

Software wise BiaB with RTs, RDs, Super MIDI tracks, MIDI sounds, and all styles are a lot better than just a couple of years ago. Add that to much better Soft-synths, plug-ins, hard-synths, DAWs, and MIDI and audio loops things have come a long way. To compliment that those who post in the Showcase forum have improved in their editing, mixing, etc, skills. Having such friendly and helpful people on these forums have helped me and I'm sure others tremendously on my skills.

Just my 2 cents.

I just posted a selfie and all of the responses were get well soon!

64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

I'm pondering the mother and baby groups. It was hard going 35 years ago as a single dad.... Let alone now as a geriatric dad. My sixteen year old daughter burst into tears but is now excited and on board. My 38 and 36 year old sons just kind of rolled their eyes. I told them I'd given up on grandchildren as neither of them even had girlfriends or seemed interested in a family!

My 2nd wife is 18 years younger than me but as 43 it was a shock after 16 years. We both looked shell shocked for a couple of weeks, but she's super happy now, as am I. What amazed me was how positive all my siblings were given they are both in their 70s. A new project for them all. My 1st wife sent me congratulations.

One funny event was when we went to the local hospital for a prenatal check and accidently wandered into (got ushered into) the geriatric unit on the floor below. My wife was sitting there with me and said, "This doesn't look very familiar! Why's there so many old people here?" Then we burst out laughing when we realised!

Anyway, it's a girl and she's kicking all the time like a footballer or a dancer.

My sister is 20 years and 5 days younger than me.

I was shocked when mom told me she was pregnant but when I held my sister for the first time....

Enjoy all this!

lambada, I do hope you will give updates throughout the pregnancy and as the baby becomes a toddler and then a child. What an adventure!

My dad was 60 when he had me and 63 when he had my brother.

The bar has been raised and people have stepped up to the challenge and learned how to get better results. A lot of the folks who are creating the better mixes are willing to share their knowledge and that goes a long way towards helping everyone get better sounding results.

We have a great group of folks here without a doubt.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
