The thought of a new Mac has piqued my interest for awhile.
Nevertheless the $$$ aren't yet in the budget.
And my 10 year old 2.6ghz quad core I-7 still gets the job done.

But my internal 1tb ssd was 95% full. so i ordered a new 2tb one.
It came with tools and a 1tb spinning drive to time machine my drive.
With the available videos, this portion was a snap

While taking the back off I realized my battery pack had "pillowed" to a point the cover would never get back on. So i purchased a new battery pack. That was a bit more complicated, but once again the online video available walked me through it not problem

Apples Internet Recovery walked me through disk partitioning and reinstalling the os via a wifi connection. Time machine brought all my data back. It appears I am up and running with 1tb available.

In a short time, all seems put back and normal (knock on wood).
I'm amazed how it all came together.

Proving once again any significant display of technology is virtually indistinguishable from magic.

Anyone considering either of these efforts, you can do it.
