My headset wont work with RealBand...it works fine in BB and with the system sounds and YouTube etc but RealBand always sends output to main speakers instead. I have went through the Audio Settings in the lower right of the screen... I select Playback Device and Headset Earphone has a green checkmark and I can go into the settings and the Test sound will come out the headset but I click Apply and close it all and sound still comes out the main speakers.

Headset is likely a USB combination microphone / headset. Many computer game players use them for to speak with other players while also listening to the game sound.
I have a Logitech headset, I use it so my wife doesn't have to endure hours of audio playback while I'm on my laptop computer. I've also used it to record audio.
sometimes my usb headset does the same when i am using skype........... but reclicking the settings sorts it out. and there are so many variables we really do need to know more as rharv requests.
In RealBand, click | Options | Preferences | 2-Audio |. As long as you have 1. MME selected as your Audio Driver Type and 2. have your headset selected as the output device in the Drivers... menu, you should be able to playback through your headset.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
