There was a concept of a large progress bar to show Timeline of song progress in this video:

Yes the Timeline indicator could be certainly made into a floating sizeable window which would provide added benefits.

Yes, but only as a user option, because the actual question is to get an efficient display of the number of chorus being played.

Duke04, we understand your need, but we're users, just like you. We're sure that PG Music staff read these threads, but the delivery will be something that only they can provide.

Hi Matt

We do need a clearer/more prominent marker for chorus place when on live gigs - 1/5 - 2/5 etc.
The old one was ok but could have been improved
An instant look and visible marker on the screen when playing live is essential
Panicked a couple of times already with other things going on

Would any of this work if you have 'one big chorus'

My songs are all done that way using 'repeats and endings'

Progress is just a bar number. Displaying in fake sheet mode shows me where I am but not which verse. On the other hand if you are working with real people, no one holds up a progress bar either.

Part of being a musician is to know where you are and where you go next. No GPS available

Great suggestions for improvements to the progress bar everyone!

To summarize:
1. Larger progress bar (option of floating, re-sizable window)
2. Visual chorus indicator (ie 1/3, 2/3, 3/3)
3. Better colour contrast for chorus and part markers
4. Allow bar numbers and part markers to be switched on/off or significantly faded so song position can have better contrast.
5. A solid (somewhat translucent) bar that grows from left to right as song plays

If you have any further feedback, please keep it coming!

Really nice summary Alyssa!

I appreciate reading the responses you, Callie, Andrew and the other PG Music associates post.

Hi everybody, I was very doubtful updating BiaB, but ... what a ( good) surprise when I saw the slash between the first and second number of the countdown square. Finally we're back to the old days because we needed this. We can now (re)see where we are in the song and the question is why did that feature disappeared ? Who decided of this, surely not a musician (I hope) but some "designer" who made his "ideas" prevail in some obscure reunion where musician were not. Please survey your awsome product ( I use it since the Atari era !) to keep it in the ears of musicians users and not in the eyes of merchants for whom only good looking is the principal... We musicians are your real customers. Thanks for the update and if you could make the little field of the countdown wider ... maybe gaining place in the unused place of the "bar" ?
Thanks again to make it .

As one who plays live, many thanks to PG Music for returning to the old way of showing the number of choruses for a song. Now, maybe make it a little larger, or color it, to see it better in dim light. It would be fine with me if the present progress bar were removed, allowing a little more space for the chord sheet.

I would like to re-emphasize that the functionality of the timeline / song progress bar could be significantly improved if the contrasts were more identifiable. As per many supported votes above.

For me, the choice between the two images below to identify song progress are obvious. Anyone agree?

i would just like a clock that shows both no of bars elapsed , and real time elapsed and total time of song.
preferably unobtrusive eg bottom of chords view.

best

In that space, perhaps we could choose to have either the colored progress bar enhancement of the existing display as shown just above in AudioTrack’s post, or a clock function. I’m used to seeing a clock but there are many options:

Total elapsed time played
Remaining time of the song
NOW time, in minutes and seconds

Combinations are of course possible but maybe not in the small space of the existing progress bar.

As always, though, I would wish for a separate window that could be resized and dragged where I want to see it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
