SONG TITLE : "THAT GIRL WHO WRECKS YOUR OLD GUITAR" "your momma warned you !!" ARTIST : moi..ALF-L..(a lad from london (c) 201622) ****BEFORE PLAYING THE SONG PLEASE NOTE**** 1. due to the variety of playback systems out there. watch your levels till comfortable with song...apologies if the listener hates the song . use earbuds if possible. NOTE>>>IF YOUR NOT A FAN OF VOCAL COMEDY/AD LIBS/DIFFERENT VOCAL ACCENTS/STYLES IN A SONG, ... THIS SONG MIGHT NOT BE TO YOUR TASTE. feel free to comment/critique whether the song flys or not. particularly about the ad libbing .... vocals in the song includeing right at the end "my johnny wouldnt do that ...etc...lol". i like a bit of comedy in certain songs. 2. i like to sing in and experiment with many different vocal styles. this is one of them. fwiw ive sung in everything from opera through church/folk/ballads/blues/rock/hard rock/metal and goodness what else..lol. i just love doing vocals. its my "thing" as it were. and i enjoy the vocal challenges that different music styles present. unfortunately i'm loseing some of the upper vocal ranges i used to take for granted as i age....sigh. 3. Backstory. (THIS SONG IS DEDICATED TO MY GRANPARENTS AND PARENTS WHO I MISS TERRIBLY.) the backstory to this song is , when i was growing up , my nice grandparents looked after me. (when my lovely parents were off abroad doing v good deeds in other countries.) they instilled in me lots of good values and ethics from a v young age. particularly my granny....who was essentially acting as my mother often. she was the kindest most golden hearted woman one could ever meet. and always concerned about me..as was the rest of my family , as well as when i finally left home and went to uni quite aways away....so i got lots of advice etc. ie.. ...."your gonna meet lots of girls there, (yes i was thinking...lol) just be carefull.." ...."you know maybe a girl your momma dreads" etc etc. the above being just two examples of lots of advice from the women in my family...like lots of lads might get often in any family. this gave me the basic germ of an idea for this song which i stored up for many years as i just couldnt afford big studio time....then biab and realband and reaper came along thankfully.... then a guy i knew told me his new girlfriend broke his old guitar which re-kindled the old song idea.....and he told some other details of the relationship, which, in part. are reflected in the song. 4. like all my songs , i used the biab/rb/reaper combo to create this one. (ive done about 90 original songs useing this combo over many years.) 5. some pg users have asked me for more production details in past songs ive posted. let me explain why i'm unable to do that, much as i like to share info..... awhile back i had very serious surgery i wont bore people with, which i came through thankfully. (i just came back on the forum after a further short procedure.) as a result (due to this darn world covid situation) my doctors want to protect me /the surgery success and have me isolate wiith just my my wife. ...and limit any interraction with other people which might impact me. but all my darn song production details are backed up in other locations, which i cant get to right now. i only have final song stereo mixes here. so please understand. Very cool tune. Was horrified with the title. Sent shivers down my spine. Lol. Loved the vocal and lyric. Very well done. Super mix, backtrack and instrumentation. Well done

justanoldmuso,
Like the guitar grove out of the gate. The vocal to me sounds a bit out too front, but that may be just me. Love the fuzzy-like vocal on the side, and thereafter . . . and that sax is awful sweet. Cool tune!
All my best,
Deej

Is it a "NEW SONG>>" or a new post of one of your older song? This the best mix I've heard from you...the vocals do get a bit too hot at times...there's plenty of clarity and while the swap n change solo thing seems to have no reflection in the rest of the song they sit in the mix well. The outro tag detracts for what came before though.

Scottc..Captain Moto..Bloc-head..ProjectM..Deej56.
Firstly let me apologise to you all for not thanking you for listening/comments earlier. The doctors have had me wired up like one of those decades old synthesisers …lol, and running lots of tests. but thankfully just told all is great. So wife n i are really happy.
Thank you all , much appreciated..i can now get on with getting more songs produced.
Rayc. … Re is it a new song ? …huh ? yes its a new song , never ever been posted before. Fresh for 2022. Thanks for listening. I DID in the intro to the song say the following… “NOTE>>>IF YOUR NOT A FAN OF VOCAL COMEDY/AD LIBS/DIFFERENT VOCAL ACCENTS/STYLES IN A SONG, ...THIS SONG MIGHT NOT BE TO YOUR TASTE.”
Best Om

Is it a "NEW SONG>>" or a new post of an older song? I ask because if it's a "new" song, newly made, you'd be able to post details. If it's a newly posted song, not newly made then you'd not have the details. Just trying to work out the caveats. Does point five apply to a "new" song? "5. Some PG users have asked me for more production details regarding songs I've posted. Let me explain why I'm unable to do that, much as i like to share info: a while back I had very serious surgery, I won't bore people with details, which, thankfully, I came through. I made two references to vocals...one that they were hot and another that a section was redundant or detracted from the overall. I made no mention of comedy at all. You'd have to forgive a listener for not reading your entire preamble each time. It's long, remains almost the same, (might be handy to put the new info at top), and doesn't provide details.

Hi OM,
Cool song it is for sure. Liked the rhythm and especially that guitar! Your vocals sounded good to me, not hot or so. And they are very good for these kind of songs.
Yes, it's a very nasty girl, but at least she broke your old guitar, not the one in the song. You were lucky on that!
I enjoyed it a lot, Hans

om .,.
A really nice, straight-forward song with the right amount of sly humor. No problem with the ad-libbing. Perhaps the vocal is a littler more forward in the mix than I would do, but ... it's simply a personal preference. Loved the harmonica! A real nice listen!

"The kind of girl that every momma dreads" ---good! Groovin' song. Love the opening with the harmonica and bass. In answer to the last question of the song: Yes, he would.

J n B. 4T…thanks for the listen/comments.
Fyi.. when i was growing up in london with my grandparents…there were more than a few girl gangs around london. Petty stuff mostly. And the women in my family would say ‘girls are trouble ..would sooner raise boys..those girls’ll prolly become politicians’...lol.
I really wish i had your song work rate..as i get older i find i’m getting slower doing stuff. Doctors have got me on this new diet/excercise regimen… No more big english breakfasts and roast beef and yorkshire…sigh...lost 15lbs. But i’m certainly healthier.
Once again let me say you guys are a major talent plus on these forums.
best/happiness om

Cool song, OM. Yeah, your granny knew them, and in spite of her warning you just had to find one or two for yourself. This is such a fun song to play, sing along with and listen to. Good write.

Fun story. The bass and the drum create very nice groove and the guitar sound fits to the mood. The harmonica and the sax work really well. Good vocals. Enjoyed the spacious mix.
