SOMETHING'S MOVIN' For this post, I've gone way back and dusted off an old one. I have upgraded some equipment like my vocal mic and software since originally doing this one and wanted to give it a total re-work. Thanks so much for giving it a listen! Torrey...this is Christian rock at it's best...what a unique melodic piece of music...love the movements and contrasts that set and reset the mood of this...let me start at the beginning 1.the intro is so cool...starting the drive for a song called "Somethings Moving" 2. the synth is just the right ethereal movement to keep the excitement there 3. your vocals are (as usual) so good...crisp, clean and the harmonies and descants are the best 4. softening the bridge is my favorite part especially lyrically ( Oh I know I'm not just dust in the wind For when I die, I've only begun to live) PTL!! I could go on and on...I love this! Dan
PS I can tell you wrote this years ago cause it seems like the coming of the Lord has disappeared from contemporary Christian music writing IMO...thanks for reminding us of the "Blessed Hope" of the Church

Torrey, you are the only player/writer/recorder I know that can get a good chorused guitar tone and make it work in a mix without sounding like an 80s throwback. Your playing & writing is excellent - as usual. Lots of detail in the arrangement and the change gives a great dynamic shift. Oh, and harmonies - wow!

A lot of clarity and power went into this mix. You sure put it to the max.
Also love the vocal, which sounds very stereo through my speakers.
May I use an old-fashioned term?
HiFi!

This sounds like something you'd hear playing on the radio along with all the other classic rock songs. You did a really good job with this one, even if it was a revist to an older song of yours. Sometimes revisiting a song after a while can really breathe some new life into it. Well done and thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Ember

Howdy Torrey.... Very appealing musical vibe. Catchy vocal hook. Good performance all the way around. Everyone else used up some of my adjectives. Well done! Back to it....

Excellent Torrey! It seems like you've found a way to allow all your talents to show in one song - writing, arranging, production, musicianship, vocals - everything really shines. This sounds like the sound track of a Christian James Bond movie or something. Just great, loved it all.

Hi Torrey,
Glad you dusted this one off. Good song, good chorus and great guitar work.
only minor suggestion - a cowbell on the Choruses to differentiate them even more from the verses plus it's in a straight beat so ideally suited to a cowbell.
Best Regards Nigel

YEOW! Man, you have a wonderfully distinct sound, Torrey. You write such good songs then package them in the perfect arrangement filled with the best accompaniment mixed in the most pleasing master. Excellent dynamics and a very fun listen from intro to ending. Can't help singing along with that hook. Your songs are ALWAYS movin'.

This is off-the-charts GOOD. Or maybe I should say On-The_Charts GOOD - because that's where it should... An EXCELLENT write - lyrically and melodically. (not something I say lightly). EVERYTHING about this is PRO. It doesn't get better than this. KILLER. WOW!!! fj

The positive feedback is always encouraging! As for the message of the song, how could I not sing about one of the central themes of the Word that is truly the blessed hope of those that believe! Thanks, and take care, T

Torrey,
I’m going to pile on with the accolades . . . this is simply OUTSTANDING! The production value itself is just perfect, with your vocal sounding so professionally polished in the mix. Yeah, this is radio ready, IMHO. Terrific write, arrangement, execution . . . it’s got it all. What a cool funky rock tune! I’m beyond impressed.
My very humble regards,
Deej

Those rhythm tracks with the chorus effect were actually recorded a few years ago. I remember struggling with getting the right sound that cut through the mix. I think I had little to no reverb on them. I also think the new mastering package I'm using now has helped them shine a little more. I own several high-end guitars in the $3k-$4k range but the funny thing is that I used a cheap $200.00 Fender Squire on those rhythm tracks when I recorded them and they sound fine to me

Torrey, I love the wonderful uplifting song. Your singing, playing, arranging, writing all awesome and this production is sounding so perfect. It's like a record that came out of a real mastering house. Way to go!
BTW, What mic did you upgrade to? Just curious if you don't mind saying.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
