+++ HERE +++ is a very interesting and non technical article about how different medications approach pain management. The article helped me to understand why one pain medication might work while another pain medication does not.

Thanks God for Opioids ... natural and synthetic derivatives of morphine with varying potency and duration. Some common examples include codeine, tramadol, hydrocodone, oxycodone, buprenorphine and fentanyl.

I am sorry that the medical community made a absolute mess out of over prescribing these products, but for god sake don't ban these (which there is a huge effort to do). I literally had to beg my physician to prescribe me the proper medication for pain treatment when I was diagnoses with acute pancreatitis with obstruction of the bile ducts. The problems was ultamitly resolved by surgury, but those weeks prior were hell.

Thanks for sharing this. Sometimes the “pharmaceutical industry” gets a bad rap for limiting the pipeline of approved drugs thereby causing prices to increase but let’s take a moment to thank the tens of thousands of innovative and hardworking individuals around the world that burn midnight oil to bring compounds to market that will bring a higher quality of life to the vast majority of us at some point in our lives; often times with mild or no side effects.

Microbiologists, internal medicine specialists, physiologists, and other medical scientists, together with researchers in organic chemistry, botany, biology and other research domains might begin the design/discovery process along with mathematicians, statisticians, computational chemistry experts, programmers and other computer scientists.

Next you might have biologists and others responsible for designing and conducting various experiments and studies of candidate drug dosages/concentrations at the cellular, organoid and animal model level.

Then we have mechanical, electrical, safety, reliability, process, pneumatic and other engineers who work on the manufacturing and logistical side of things.

Then we have the crucial specialists who design, execute and interpret clinical trials including experts at the applicable regulatory agencies.

And finally we have the general practitioner/family doctor that will do the prescribing and gatekeep for dangerous interactions with the other stuff you are taking. And generally speaking they do a good job whether you are young, old, male, female, with co-morbidities or without.

These are just the few domains and sub-specialties that come immediately to mind and I’m sure I’m neglecting several.

To be sure, like anything else designed by humans, we/they don’t always get it right. The opioid addiction epidemic in the US is one example. But even here, it’s only the last few “links in the chain” that were responsible for the majority of the harm. I’d say in general the above technocrats are owed our gratitude.

The next time you’re prescribed something that takes you from excruciating to better than tolerable . . . hug a geek

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

I guess in the future, we will have a wearable smartwatch "micro pharmacy" that will inject us with exact dose of what is needed at the right time... Diabetes auto injectors were around for a while now.

Something I was reading yesterday about flu shots and Alzheimer, which I found interesting:

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
