Excellent tune Floyd. I loved the bass throughout. Your choice of instruments and when to put them in were great. I don't know if others would agree, but I thought it had a great Waylon Jennings feel to it. As usual, the writing is top notch.

Hey Floyd ...
There's a lot of fun packed into 3-plus minutes. I noticed you co-wrote this with Bill Osofsky. He's a heckuva writer. And Bill's as great guy, too.
That swing always plays nice in my ears. I was tapping my foot (it's kin da hard to do the Texas two-Step when you're sitting, though) and smiling all the way. I love the simplicity of the song and arrangement. I also love songs that have a bridge when one is needed - not just thrown ibn because.
A real sweet listen! Best to you & yours.
Alan Thanks, Alan. Bill is, indeed, a fine writer. I did at least 20 songs with him, so there will be more to come... Loved the groove on this song. A definite two stepper. Lyrics were very cool. Super vocal and the backing band was excellent. Super production... Thanks, Scott.... Hi Floyd,
Another beauty!
Good song, well sung and I particularly liked the three choruses with different lyrics in each.
Best Regards Nigel Nigel - Thanks for having a listen...

This tune has in my mind got it all together. Great story that's well written and paired with a good melody that lights the mind with images. This is an excellent song to be heard on the radio, or whatever passes for radio these days. This is a good one Floyd. Standing ovation to you and the cowriter.

Hi Floyd and Bill,
What a fun song! Very well written and performed.
Loved how the fiddle comes in part way through the 2nd chorus and sticks around for the rest of the song, works a treat.
Listened a couple of times, enjoyed! Thanks, Dave... You have a really nice "two-stepper" there.
I just watched the Yellowstone series and this fit right in to the pictures in my mind.... although Jimmy ( in the series ) was a cowboy who needed to learn more than a few things about life.... most of it the hard way.
Great job on the mix, the music, and the song as a whole. Thanks, Herb.... Nice fun song, great story. I used to listen to a lot of this type of stuff in the 70s. Nice vibe. takes me back there. Well done! japokeapeg - thanks for listening.... Floyd...you can't write a song about Texas without some swing in it...man another great song...great concept and realization of it...the track is spot-on and the vocals were really good...your voice is so suited for this style and tempo...I'm always amazed at your writing skills...you and Bill have got a winner here! Thanks, Dan....

You and Bill paint such a vivid picture with the lyric. While listening we envision a horse ranch with Colorado mountains in the background. A great write it is and by two great writers! We love the arrangement and especially the stop with just your voice on the verse last lines. And the bridge ... heart, mind and the rest of me. Cool. The fiddle and banjo are quite nice and fittingly understated. As the song progressed Janice was saying, “go back to her!” As always, your vocals alone would sell the song. That ole school can be a wonderful place to visit ... indeed. Enjoyed it! J&B

A very nice song, Floyd!
'Of course', I have to say, given all my compliments on your oeuvre. But here your voice feels a bit lighter and also younger here. I think that's what love does...
I love that fiddle that emphasizes the airy atmosphere of the song. And, of course, very nice lyrics!

not my genre, but as always grrreat vocals and talent displayed. great arrange.
bops along nice.
i'm curious how you would be in another genre like jazz or ballads or hard rock. could be fun maybe ? i ask cos i think your vocs could nail any genre.
happiness. om
om - thanks. Any time I sing a different genre, folks STILL call it Country.... Thanks, Josie. Floyd,
Love the country swing feel to this tune—the banjo was a great touch. Every aspect of this production is top-notch . . . as your tunes always seem to be. Outstanding!
My very best to you,
Deej Thanks, Deej. More classic delivery. I read the lyrics before I listened, not knowing how the accompaniment would sound. Wow, what a surprise. The lyrics are great. The combined total is little short of amazing.
Loved the breaks, and the entire versatility. Excellent. Thanks, Trev. Bill deserves most of the credit for the lyrics...

Actually not my preferred genre of music, but this one had me bobbing my feet after the first couple of bars, that means a lot I guess :-)
Technically I like your choice of instrumentation, it fits (as far as I can tell as a non-Nashville expert) this genre very well, as does you voice.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear this song in the commercial radio, it's really good!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
