After completing my chords and loading my style, I then import my melody from a midi file. All is great while I work with this style. But, when I change style the melody changes with it. I thought that the style would not affect the melody track and certainly not modify it. Am I expected to load the melody with each change of style?
Any help will be gratefully received.

Hi Jonel, If the style has a Realtrack or MIDI Supertrack on the Melody track, then I suspect that notation for that track will overwrite a notated Melody. If this is the case, the imported melody should remain intact if it's loaded onto a Utility track. If there is no obvious reason for the problem, try resetting to factory default (under the Options menu). Hope these suggestions are useful. Noel

Good advice above. Something else to try would be to freeze the melody track before changing the style.

Hi Noel, your diagnosis was spot on and I am now able to proceed with my song. Two issues seem to be apparent in choosing a utility track for the melody though.
The first is that the note numbers I used to keep track of the notes relation to the chord or key on the OPT dialogue, is no longer displayed. I like to keep this as a check on the relevance of my notes during the first playing of the melody.
The second is the the option to change the key of the split in the piano keyboard is not remembered when the song is reloaded. These are fairly trivial though but it does seem that something is amiss with the use of utility tracks for this purpose. (or maybe just me again!)

Yes, freezing the melody track was my first work-around. Thanks

Hi Jonel. That's interesting. I've never used those note numbers before tonight and, as you say, they work on the Melody track but not the Utility tracks. I also tried the split point and had the same result as you. I'll mention these in the forum where we pre-test the updates so that the developers are aware of these things. I'm glad you got your problem sorted. All the best, Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
