Janne,
That is a great sounding song! I love the arrangement! I don't know much about using the synth vocalists, but you really have it nailed down! It's one of your best yet!
Thanks, Torrey

Great that you put Solaria on the lead! The song is very atmospheric and Kevin does a great job on the backing vocals!
A couple of small nits: I partially agree with Ray about the voice getting a little bit "sharp" in the choruses. It didn't bother me that much, though.
On the other hand, in the verses Solaria could probably be mixed in a little bit hotter.
I have to say, I didn't so much like the cut offs of her voice here and there. But I believe you explained why this was necessary.
All in all definitely a worthwhile listen.
Rob Thanks Rob, I appreciate your kind feedback I selected Solaria for the vocals of this song when you asked a Solaria ballad, I had already set the key and was thinking singing the song myself (octave lower, naturally), that's why she is singing that high. Well, this is a learning process, and I hope to learn to mix her better in the future. Interestingly, I left some cut offs and small timing issues just to make her sound more human like including mistakes... I'm sure nobody would have cared if I had sung the same mistakes Janne

EPIC!!
The lyric is a wonderful poem and the band is excellent.
That’s a really good combination of unusual RT’s and they work together great.
The synths once again could’ve fooled us.
J&B
PS: EQ wise perhaps a slight high end shelf and a slight midrange boost would tame "her" vocal a bit. Thanks Janice & Bud for your heartwarming comment and EPIC And thanks for the EQ idea, I'll remember that. I used Neutron 4 on Solaria vocals and trusted the settings chosen by AI... I wish I had "golden" ears, but at this age each ear hears things differently. Janne

I like the low tin whistle. It has a haunting yet peaceful quality in this song.
Again, I wouldn't have know the vocals were synth if you hadn't mentioned it.
Really good song. Complex production. Thanks Mr. Storm for your kind comment Glad to hear that the vocals and the tin whistle work so well. Janne

Hi Janne,
I'm very impressed by this song. Especially the composition and the lyrics. Fantastic! And the vocals are very good. I was impressed by their natural sound. You are a fast learned in that matter. I only would like the female singer to sing an octave lower, or at least a lower key. I think that would have given this beatiful song a 'warmer' performance. But man, you've accomplished a lot on this artificial front.
Hans

Hans Thanks Hans for your kind feedback I agree about the lower key giving warmer sound, but I wanted to test how Solaria would sound in higher register. I have new female vocalists, let's see how they can cope with that range. And as I have said before, it's not about my skills, the software is so good that even the basic settings work amazingly well, just put the notes in the right position and then you can enjoy... Janne

Very nice instrumentation, and all though I agree that some of the higher register on the voice was a bit harsh, most of the vocals really fit in well. This has a great sound to it.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
