This one is a bit more of an uptempo rocker than what you normally hear from us. Both audio and video links:

Walk the Walk (audio only)

Walk the Walk (youtube video)

You will need to put up with my vocal on this, the good news is we have a new one with Christiane on vocals that is almost ready for release smile

The Band:

~425:Organ, B3, Background Blues Sw 120. I used both the regular and the held chords version of this RealTrack.

Marty Straub from BabuMusic is on bass and BGV

I used EZDrummer3 for the drums, and I'm playing all the guitar parts.

Mixed in Reaper and Mastered with Ozone10.

Walk the Walk (2022, Dave Bell)

I see you walk down the street, acting nonchalant,
pretending that you just don't care.
The way you hold your head, the way you strut your stuff,
displays a certain kind of savoir-faire.

You got that special smile, and you've known all the while,
that it's meant to beguile
The way you walk the walk, the way you talk the talk
You know there's nothing, to compare

The way you move, and the way that you groove
leads me to conclude
That you know what you want and you know what to flaunt
you ain't no debutant

You got that certain flair, you got the devil may care
that left me blissfully unaware.
The way you walk the walk, the way you talk the talk
You know there's nothing, to compare

Chorus:

You gotta walk the walk for me, you gotta talk the talk for me
I hope you will agree, won't you listen to my plea?

All comments welcome!

Dave and Marty,

That tune is a killer! Love the opening riff! This is a re-visit to the great blues/rock of yesteryear! Your guitar has a fabulous searing tone! Marty's bass is beautiful and your voices are blending perfectly! A great sounding tune!

Thanks, Torrey

Another great one from the "dangerously good duo".
Dave, loved the guitar work and Marty, that walking bass line is superb smile

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

This song and performance made me feel like I was listening to one of the great house bands out of Stax-Volt or Muscle Shoals. Intro was great and the whole thing just cooked! Really nice job, gents!

No problem putting up with that vocal, Dave. It's just fine. Marty's base is rock solid and your guitar is smokin'. Excellent work.

Dave,

Everything about this SOUNDS GOOD!

Your vocals are really well recorded and processed.
Beefy, yet clear. Sitting in the mix perfectly.
BGVs are nice, too.

Marty's Bass sounds Incredible.
BIG, PUNCHY. Without ANY Boom-i-ness.
Might be the Best Bass Sound ever (in the Showcase, at least).

Loved that opening. Had a CCR feel/sound.
(Just yesterday I was saying to my wife "Why didn't anyone ever carry on that Credence sound?")

LOVE that guitar tone (solos). Killer stuff.
Drums sound good.

Enjoyed several listens...

Hi Dave and Marty,

What a delicious Blues! Can't keep my feet still.
And the bass is very cool, but it's Marty, so no wonder...

But nothing wrong with your vocals. They sound as if you have a little cold, but that makes them really special.
And than the solo. Wow, what a swell sound.
I was brought in a very good mood and thought it would play again after the end, but then 'So many roads' with Chris started.
I think I haven't heard that one before. Oh, I liked that one too. They were close in my taste. But most of your songs are close.
That means close to the maximum of joy. I don't think I'm exaggerating with that. They come close to my songs... ;-)

Dave & Marty,
Amazing team work! Very unusual and cool funk and blues marriage intro. Excellent drive and ACE instrument playing. Vocals sit well and both of your voices work very well together. Mix is top notch. Listens very well. Enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

Hi BlueAttitude,

catchy composition. The playing of the guitar, the bass and the hammond organ (which I particularly like) are well done.

Hi Dave & Marty ...

Love Shuffle Blues and this one does everything it should do. Great lyric, musical arrangement is spot on, and the mix is stand out. No problems at all with the vocals. Loved how the organ came in, filling up a bit of that b/g space. Your guitasr tone is so dang good!

That was a real joy to listen to! Thanks!!!

Alan

Sizzling opening. I dig that riff.
Good lyrics. I especially like the lines "That you know what you want and you know what to flaunt/you ain't no debutant."
Darn good song. Ain't no problem at all with your vocal.

That was my favorite line, too, Scott. Rhyming words like flaunt, want, debutant. Sheesh, and he said he couldn't write lyrics and he couldn't sing. Guess we now know that Dave doesn't know what "can't" means.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Wow, very fresh sounding intro. Really like those sharp sounds of the lead guitar, nicely reflecting those sexy steps of that mysterious lady. And vocals have that plea strongly present. Excellent rhyming with some less often heard words. The bass is enjoyable, and the drum programming works very well. I want more your minor key blues ballads, but I definitely want more like this heavy stuff laugh

Loved the intro - superb.

Excellent rollicking (swaggering) song, Marty sounds great on bass and backing vocals and the guitars are excellent (as always).
The outro is great. You are getting very good at programming those drums!

Really liked it.

Peter

Man, what a great sound those bands had! Loved Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn especially. Thanks very much for the kind words!

Just not used to hearing myself sing yet I think, Leon, it's still pretty new for me. Thanks for the encouragement!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
