Robert reworked my song Emerald. This another arrangement of the song was also done with Janice and Ray. Was so glad to add this to the catalog of Spirit Level songs.

Billionaires in space- an emotional response written mostly around the time the first one blasted off... probably the same day I placed another Amazon order!

Hope you like it.

Last Resort

Lyrics:

The Last Resort

welcome aboard the VS Vanity
in Emerald Class all seats recline
we are honoured to fly you to the edge of wonder
who will come back from the sublime

weightless at the gates of space
the location of Paradise has moved
last lights of Kiribati scars on her body
this world leaves you weeping confused

helpless on the wheel
in rapture of orbit do you feel
meteor of man
in fire will you understand
at the last resort
the last resort

our special guest we have prepared
as we approach the Karman Line
a montage to airbrush your neglect, sir
momentarily we`ll be offline

simple gestures seal our fate
a bird flies from the flood with a leaf
indifferent gods we depend as you descend
see the millions waiting for relief

helpless on the wheel
in rapture of orbit do you feel
meteor of man
in fire will you understand
at the last resort
the last resort

Nice work, soothing to listen to. Touches of early Lou Reed fused with Neil Young. I liked the sitar too. Flew me to the edge of wonder...

Yes! I always like this song --from the idea to the execution and production. Robert, this is a very cool redo. Yeah, the sitar is an interesting addition, but Scott, your guitar is so perfect. Robert, you are a lyrics master. "the location of Paradise has moved" The way things are going billionaires in space will be in the cheap seats.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Scott and Robbert

I loved that count-down intro/outro in the song.
Beside that I think the sitar was a great choice for this 'airy' song.
and Scott, your playing is wonderful as always

Robbert, your singing was very suitable for this spatial setting, the lyrics are brilliant, but I had to use Google translate quite a bit (of course).

I enjoyed the song very much!

Interesting rework, the lyrics suit the sublime mood. Clever images like "in rapture of orbit" and "VS Vanity". Robert's vocal is always pleasure to hear. Nice warm drumming and spacy lead guitar describe the journey very well. I know it would be a bit cliche, but some synthesizer space sounds wouldn't hurt smile

Scott and Robert,

Very cool song, it sounds extra terrestrial.
Music as well as vocals.
Nice beginning and end.

Great lyrics, loved the internal rhyme. Reminded me of Space Oddity, but so much better. I'd quote a line but I'd end up quoting the whole thing. Guitar fit well. Great job, gents!

Clever intro and outro.

Good and interesting write, although I have to confess I wasn't familiar with Kiribati.

Clever play on words with the title as well.

And, of course, excellent vocal and guitar work! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Many thanks to listeners and your comments.
Writing and singing lyrics to the melody lines of Scott`s fine instrumental was very enjoyable.
The sitar inclusion came from thinking that , along with Viridian, we might have 2 parts of a space trilogy...to be continued.

I agree with comments above, a little synth-space sounds would be icing on this cake, David Bowie style?
Very well done guys, a most enjoyable adventure and highly creative.

This got me thinking that next on the list for us to destroy/consume (after Earth) is the moon, then Mars.
Will we ever learn?

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
