Very well done in my opinion. You've got some great sounds in there. Christmas songs can be so difficult to produce an original sound because so many have done before. Very good vocalist. I thought the mix was top notch and loved that sax outro.

Man, Montel is a great singer! The song sounded pro and I enjoyed it a lot. The rhyming was definitely different and the song itself seemed to stick around the I chord. Would love to hear more of Mr. Moore!

The vocal doesn't seem to match the backing until the precious gift section.

The vocal and backing are both sonically great, and I really like the sound.

The lyrics are quite good as well.

But without any chord changes, the melody doesn't give me any cues as to where one idea ends and another begins.

The result is - for me, anyway - that the first verse sounds like one long run-on sentence instead of different but related thoughts.

So, not my style, but very well done! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

It's a matter of taste. I intentionally had the bass imply the chord changes while having the upper chord tones drone around the I chord by using extended chord tones giving it a sense of uniformity. There are many "one chord" tunes out there with very little if any chord changes. I'm not a fan of that approach but it does help keep the groove going. If I were to arrange this as a piano or acoustic guitar piece, the chords changes would be more obvious. I edited my post above to include the not so obvious chords.

Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. BIAB is a great tool!

Hi Bosco,

Very interesting song and dynamic vocals. Yes I could definity hear multiple chords in the verses.

I can't quite put my finger on what this track needs. I wonder if the backing could come up in volume to match the vocalist. Also some of the backing instruments sounded a little scratchy - maybe you could ease off the EQ cuts and give the backing more power.

Please feel free to ignore these suggestions.

Look forward to hearing more of your work.

Best Regards
Nigel

Went straight to the video. What a great song, Bosco, and an excellent choice having Montel sing it. He is perfect for it. Man, welcome to the Showcase, and you brought a winner. I just had to get more, so I browsed your other songs. I'll be there for awhile now.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Maybe during the mastering process the engineer boosted the the lows and highs and lowered some of the lo mids. Thanks for the comments.

An excellent new Christmas song about love

I liked the vocal and mix

Fantastic chord progression, different than most other Christmas songs, brilliant work on that and making the vocal fit the chord progression

I really liked this one - a new Christmas masterpiece

An apple a day is bullcrap. Apples are dangerous. Just look at Eve, Snow White, or any pig at a luau.

Thank you. I was very happy with the vocalist. He was very easy to direct and he added in some unexpected nuanced embellishments.
