Hi, friends !
Just a little tune from
this ol´ foreigner ! May we
all have a Peaceful Christmas
and hopefully a better New Year
2023 also !

Cliché ( Words and Music by Norman Wibe)

I know that you may
say my writing sounds cliché
though I´m trying hard to write, right from my heart
what can I do ?
Should I quit it too ?
Or just keep on trying anyway ?

You know you are right
my writing doesn´t seem too bright
lacking all the nuances so fine
you´ll need in a song
in a native tongue
and that is not in my might

´cause I´m a foreigner
with skills too poor
yeah I´m a foreigner
for that there is no cure

It is not the world
to take a pen and write a word
in a language not your own, my friend
I used to think so
but now I know
and I´ve learned my lesson, I´m fully cured

´cause I´m a foreigner
with skills too poor
yeah I´m a foreigner
for that there is no cure

Guess I´m just a fool
and least of all, not pretty cool
not a poet nor a priest at least
but all the same
I carry my name
where I go so proudly with my tool(s)

Hi Dani
Good song
You really put a lot of emphasis on the background vocals.
And that has paid off
Really very nice passages Through your singing in conjunction with the background vocals
Great work Dani

Dani, I enjoyed your song from start to finish. The melody is spot on and the vocals and backing vocals shine.

Nice introspective meta song right from your heart, that's all that matters smile I enjoyed the lead and backing vocals. Nicely upbeat melody and catchy chorus. Good forward rolling band. Happy holidays and great New Year 2023 smile

Dani,
We are all foreigners somewhere; you sound pretty comfortable where I`m sitting... and your song is a melodic and thoughtful listen.
You blend lead vocals with harmonies as well as anyone on the forum. I enjoyed hearing you sing in a lower register than on many of your recordings.
Well done.

Robert

Ha! laugh

Good song!

But... English is my native tongue. Where's my excuse? wink

Merry Christmas, and looking forward to a better 2023 for all of us.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Well you rhymed cliche' properly so you're ahead of heaps of folk.
plenty of nuance in your songs.
Here's something for a smile:

Hello Dani,

Aren't we all foreigners? But that's a cliche too and beside that; Robert began his post with the same line...
I liked your song, the brass vocals and the lyrics with their deep thoughts.

I missed you on the forum lately, but glad to hear you now.
More brassy than before, but probably you are in Spain again enjoying life?
I noticed you recorded the song on your laptop.
But it sounds very good to me.

Have a merry Christmas!

Hans

Dani, I enjoyed your vocals and the sentiment of the lyric. Your English language skills have never been detrimental to your writing. Sounds good! I enjoyed my listen, Tom

"...I´m trying hard to write, right from my heart"

That is a good definition of Norman Wibe (aka Dani).
Nice use of BIAB.
Your usual nice vocal and harmony.
Not cliche at all. Heartfelt.

Dani,

This has a little different sound than I usually hear from you, but I like it! Kind of a Country Folk sound with lovely Vocal work! Really nice job working with those background vocals, both your's and the BIAB files!

Thanks, T

Dani,
Powerful pop tune. Very well constructed. Excellent vocal performance. I do think that oohs overpower your voice in a few places a little. Good one. Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
