Pipeline, It's great to see you posting again, and I hope you are keeping well. Thanks for the great suggestions. Great suggestions don't work when you can't get a track data temp.txt to read. Anytime anything is re/generated you should have a BBoutput.txt written in bb\Data showing the wav sections of all current tracks, without having to hack into debug options just to get it This can be then "instantly" written in Reaper without having to wait for consolidated wav renders in this day n age of non destructive editing. This gives total non destructive editing control that you don't get after waiting ages for a consolidated wav. In a professional studio environment you need that speed and control, in a home hobbyist environment the speed and control may not be an issue for those that want to stay in Biab and plod along. I can do it in the BBPlugin but it is painful waiting so long to get the txt file BBoutput.txt because bbw4 is rendering them all to wav that are not even used and end up getting deleted. Inject BBPlugin Tracks into REAPER (Simple Script)The guys over at Reaper were very helpful and spent time to make the WMA work accurately. Adobe Audition is the only other DAW I have seen to handle WMA non destructively. Most Biab users have Reaper and if they have the Audiophile version then they can use wav. Using that wonderful Alt+F8 floating gen window (just needs Drums & UserTracks also) you can instantly regenerate a track section for Reaper and instantly it's in there, no waiting to render a section down to wav then dragging in, it's instant fitting to any decimal tempo map. This can all be done now easily without having to wait yet another year in hope of a miracle. This way will also work for Mac. With this and the Alt+F8 what can't you then do ? (Real Time Signatures that's about it). Ideally if you were enthusiastic you could add Send functions that will communicate via Reaper's web Control that will control Reaper and run Actions. So as in the example pic below you will have a script in Reaper that Biab will run via web control to read bb\Data\BBoutput.txt and BANG it's in instantly. Send Audio Track to Reaper (Selected Track) Send selected Audio Track section to Reaper (Selected Track) Send Audio Track to Reaper (New Track) Send selected Audio Track section to Reaper (New Track)
Send MIDI Track to Reaper (Selected Track) Send selected MIDI Track section to Reaper (Selected Track) Send MIDI Track to Reaper (New Track) Send selected MIDI Track section to Reaper (New Track)But none the less it can be all done from Reaper with a bb\Data\BBoutput.txt a simple thing that will enable miracles. If not the other option is work out a saved frozen SGU and read the data direct from there. This is how fast the track goes in from reading the text file, it can do it for a whole track or section of track or 255 bars (this can also be the generate speed of the BBPlugin): Zoom++ Error=0

I made these test files to show how fast it can be: WavData.zip In Reaper menu Options > Show REAPER Resource Path... Copy Insert new track import bb temp txt data.lua to Scripts or Scripts\ReaTrak In Reaper menu Actions > Show Action List > New Action > Load ReaScript... point it to Insert new track import bb temp txt data.lua and open Drag the temp.txt out of Drive X depending on what drive you RealTracks Drums are on to C:\bb\Data you need to have BB on C drive else you need to change the path in the script to your drive this is the line in the script> filetxt = [[C:\bb\Data\temp.txt]] <then ctrl+s to save and run. you can try Drums temp.txt then Guitar temp.txt just replace the temp.txt D Drive folder will be: D:\bb\Drums\ D:\bb\RealTracks\ then RUN Insert new track import bb temp txt data.lua from Action window. The first time use of the RT or RD it will create reapeaks after that it will be instant. This uses the wma though you can change it to wav in the script line> RTextension =1 <is wma change to> RTextension =2 <for wav

This is how fast tracks can load into Reaper from a Biab project being able to read the BBoutput.txt, no waiting for rendering down to consolidated wavs. The wav wma m4a aiff RealTracks and Drum source files can be imported directly or batch converted to any format and Reaper will load the RealTracks\Drums in that format directly into Reaper flac, mp3, aiff, m4a, wavepack, ogg, wma, wav The BBPlugin can be made to be as fast as this. This way would also work with Studio One and Ardour or any others with scripting: Zoom++

Having bb\Data\BBoutput.txt of the current tracks in Biab, that is updated each time anything is generated will give instant identical track transfer to RealBand and BBPlugin, also allowing Reaper to read and instantly load the Biab session in wma or wav or m4a or aiff. You could have the midi data in the same file or have 2 txt files, one for audio data and one for midi data. Having these track data txt files you could either load all tracks or selected tracks into RealBand, BBPlugin or Reaper instantaneously.

Here's an example of Reaper projects with direct track transfer: _RKMDBM1_demo_C-D-E-F_Drive_wma.zip _JAZZWES_Demo_C-D-E-F_Drive_wma.zipThese are the unfolded chords, I didn't have the chords unfolded when I imported the SGU chords into Reaper. _JAZZWES_Demo_chords_unfold.zip _RKMDBM1_demo_chords_unfold.zip In Reaper View > Region/Marker manager > right click import region csv These are the identical sections generated up in Biab. You can load these direct into Reaper, just open the Reaper project file with the drive letter you have your RealTracks and RealDrums on. If your BB files are on another drive open the rpp in a text editor and using Replace All replace C:\ with G:\ or if you have the Audiophile wav version, replace .wma with .wav Make sure you have one of the latest versions of Reaper that play the wma files.

This is not a baffling mystery, it's the same BBoutput.txt that the Plugin writes to the Saved Tracks folders as shown above, it's just needs to be written in the bb\Data\ folder.

Why does the BBoutput.txt file need to be saved to the bb\Data\folder instead of, or also to, the Saved Tracks folder? What is the benefit to PG Music or to people that use another DAW beside Reaper? Isn't the BBoutput.txt file saved to the Saved Tracks folder for the BiaB plugin to use?

The bbw4_64.exe writes this info for the Plugin, if bbw64.exe did the same in bb\Data we would get the same exact track/s we worked on in Biab in these below, instant transfer (it's a no brainer must have): SENDING BIAB TRACKS TO REALBAND. Import Current Biab Tracks Inject BBPlugin Tracks into REAPER (Simple Script) So you could have any fractional tempo map in RealBand, BBPlugin or Reaper but the Biab tracks will still fit. As you change the track/s in Biab it will transfer and update the track/s in RealBand, BBPlugin or Reaper.

Thanks for the explanation. That helps me to better understand the benefit of your request.
Can't the Band-in-a-Box plugin and RealBand transfer from the Saved Tracks folder just as easily as they could from bb\Data\folder?

Can't the Band-in-a-Box plugin and RealBand transfer from the Saved Tracks folder just as easily as they could from bb\Data\folder? That SavedTracks folder is for for the track data that is generated by the Plugin (bbw4_64.exe) that has limited control over what you generate up: Regenerate selected region - rest of the track content is missing Biab gives more section control at the moment so reading the track text in bb\Data will give the exact same tracks as in Biab rather than the limited generated track data text in SavedTracks. Hopefully both the Plugin and RealBand will have direct play like Sforzando, to have RealBand work like Track Injector will be a huge step ahead, and non destructive editing. Once this is implemented track transfer will be so simple as they will all being playing direct from the section info in the text files. At the moment I can read the BBPlugin BBoutput MultiRiff text data and inject one of those 7 tracks into a Reaper track, so having this for the main Biab app would be good. So this is how the BBPlugin should soon work, bbw4_64.exe will generate up the tracks the Plugin asked for but not as rendered wav files, just as the BBoutput.txt track data that has all the audio sections that BBPlugin will play the same way Sforzando plays the text files. So you will have instant gen and play (the midi files will still be generate as this is quick and the files size tiny). RealBand hopefully will do the same with bbw2_64.exe and get it to only generate the text track data, then RealBand will load those sections direct using non destructive editing, so playing/streaming the files direct from disk. A lot quicker and a lot more creative control. They will both use bbw2/4_64.exe until the generate code is added to BBPlugin/RealBand. ..Yes, good ideas for RB, and we plan on lots of exciting things for RealBand in the future. >>Generate and Play tracks instantly in the Plugin by playing the source files direct from the generated text data, no rendering down to wav at all (unless needed to export).
Yes, planned for sometime in 2023.
>>Fit and sync with any Time Signature in the DAW. Sync with any decimal varying tempo map.
We plan to add support for floating point tempos and any time signature, in BiaB, plug-in, and RB.
>Go over 255 bars.
Yes, planned for BiaB & plug-in. Already possible in RB.
>48khz / 24bit source wav/aiff files.
We have source wavs for this 24/48, and are looking into it. This I will take time, but should be worth it.

Once we have the BBoutput.txt in bb\Data any section you don't like in Reaper you can regen and import to the same track position instantly, letting you extend or shorten riffs giving so much more control and tweaking as you are using the source files direct in Reaper and not rendered wav files that can't adjust in length and tweak giving custom notation. This would be the same deal with BBPlugin and RealBand track transfer. Zoom++

PG have blocked this from working in newer versions and have even blocked the BBoutput.txt in the BBPlugin from working to give track section data to allow users to import the track data direct to Reaper as wma or wav, this is craziness as I went to so much trouble creating something to give Biab users a quantum leap in total control of creativity that I have been looking for 14 years for. Reaper implemented wma to be played from disk and this works really well, and PG are the ONLY company to use WMA for this whole purpose. PG don't seem to want to give this control and creativity to Biab users, they would rather users wait for Biab to take ages rendering to a consolidated wav. I can't work out why Biab has to be behind rather than out front leading the way ?
15 years ago RealBand should of been Reaper Track Injector as I would not be here now half dead from it all. I know they have said they have big plans for RealBand but I just have a felling they will go off half cocked with it. Whereas with Track Injector for Reaper you get instant tracks in a quality DAW. The main issue users have with Track Injector you have to hack into the menu and use AutoHotkey to get what you need. If Biab had track data text file Reaper would read that direct and get the tracks even faster without having to get Biab to write the track data for 1 track it will already have the track data for all current tracks as C:\bb\Data\BBoutput.txt.
This could not possibly cause any problems but sell more Biab or Audiophiles packages to Reaper users, and how many Reaper users are there compared to Biab or other DAW's users ??. Long term Biab users will still be able to render down to consolidated wav files and drag into their DAW but those that want total instant creative control will use Reaper direct.

If you had BBoutput.txt in C:\bb\Data this would have all the track data for every current track in Biab when I run the Reaper script it will read BBoutput.txt and INSTANTLY import all the tracks ! I could have another script that could choose what tracks to import or to update any track instantly with new sections or new track. This way ANYONE could use the track injector with zero hacking and NO AutoHotkey needed. NO waiting to render consolidated wav files. It could also import the midi data directly. Zoom++ Is 1 sec transfer too slow ???

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!
Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review
Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!
"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
