RealTrack channels in the mixer now have an option under the "Track Actions" to "Regenerate this RealTrack". Going to Track Actions for RealDrums and, there is no "Regenerate this RealDrum", and the existing (3) options for regenerating seem to be expecting RealTracks instead of RealDrums once you choose them and try to get something to work. This may dovetail a bit into some of the Multiriff requests I've seen, but at minimum I'd like to be able to just regenerate the RealDrum track, as I'm often trying new RealDrums and I don't think there's a way to just regenerate it. It would be a big timesaver. (Right now the only way I've seen is either to regenerate everything, or freeze all but the RealDrum and regenerate.

+1. Good idea Chuck.

It's easy for us users to consider RealDrums and RealTracks as the same thing but with two different names. Small things like this suggestion reminds us that PG Music and Band-in-a-Box treat RealDrums and RealTracks differently.

This is a good suggestion. Ideally, we could regenerate just part of a RealDrum track, too, like we now can with RealTracks.

Almost all of the existing items on the Track Actions menu are not working for RealDrums - they always ask you to pick a RealTrack. So the menu should either be redesigned and trimmed down, or RealDrums should get the riff/regen functionality. I think I'll report this part as a bug, if it isn't already listed somewhere.

Actually the Track Actions menu is mostly the same for all track types - MIDI, Supertrack, Loop, etc. - but most of the items expect and ask for a RealTrack. I'm surprised there's not more confusion on this.

I don't think I would call this a bug because it isn't there. Let's continue to support the request to add this as a new feature.

I think there are a number of items on the menu that shouldn't be there.

OK, that's different. I think the other forum where you posted is the better place for your ideas on that as well. This would be part of a much larger project.

Real Drums are the early version of RTs, however, just for drums. While modern RTs are full audio arrangements linked up by style and chord, RDs have there orgins in the midi engine with the drum sounds being a audio library for the midi drums.

Thats the way I always understood it.

You may be right, Dan, but from the beginning they used real drummers to make the RealDrum tracks, and apparently still do. I’m not sure I see a difference.

Musocity provided the best example I know of that RealDrums are different from RealTracks. Per Musocity PowerTracks Pro can generate a RealDrums track without using a utility file that has to interface to the main Band-in-a-Box program.

I don't have PowerTracks Pro so I can't verify the claim but I have no reason to doubt it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
