If I change 1 wma file in \RealTracks\Guitar, Electric, Rhythm StoneZ Honky 1 Ev 120\eg0852.wma from mono to stereo (needed to work in Sforzando) it is out after generation, if I change it back to mono it's fine. It's using that file mostly in the progression except for a few places, that's when it plays fine using other wma's. If I take all the wma files out of the folder it then uses the wav files and plays fine. If you PG guys can check this and make sure it's not just me doing something wrong at this end. It's doing the same in Biab & BBW4 did not try BBW2. It's fine in Reaper as Reaper is set to import the wav source.
It should not touch the wma files if wav's are present otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of the Audiophile drive.
You can see below the top track is wav and the bottom, if I use the WMA as source it loads to stereo sections of the eg0852.wma So Biab BBW4 seems to be using wma on the Audiophile drive as default.
I sanity tested this and it's working correctly in my testing - playing the wave files if they are present. There are a couple of possibilities - check the timestamp of your WMA files - should closely match the corresponding wave files. Also, a RealTracks instrument is either set to stereo or mono, and I wouldn't expect it to work properly if you convert the wave files from mono to stereo (or vice versa).
I tried replacing the EG0852.wma with a copy of the DI version with a current time stamp and it plays the newer wma rather than the original wav on the Audiophile drive. I suppose if there's an update with wma only, before the Audiophile update is out it will play the newer file even though it's wma ? Not sure if that's a good thing or not if you are expecting wav ?
I changed voc967.wma time stamp to current and it uses that with the other wav sections rather than all wav. The top tracks is the Biab render the bottom are the actual wav source files. You can see the quality difference compared to voc962. Zoom++
So if you have RT RD updates within the Biab update installers and they only contain wma files over the year without any Audiophile updates you are thinking you are getting wav quality from the Audiophile drive but in fact they could be only wma quality ?
The audio files rarely need to be updated. The ST2 files (that reference the audio files) are often updated. When an audio file need to be patched, the wav file would also be patched. So mismatched wav and wma would not normally be something we would expect to see.
Well that's good so I should have to delete all the wma files. I just remembered years back having Audiophile updates.
RealTracks Update - June 18 2018 (500 MB)
This patch includes some RealTracks audio updates we have made since the release of Band-in-a-Box 2018. 2018 users should be sure to download the latest Band-in-a-Box 2018 update patch, as that patch includes the bulk of the fixes for RealTracks released with 2018.
A number of wave files are updated, so people with the "Audiophile" hard drive version can instead download the Audiophile patches: Installer 1 (1900 MB) | Installer 2 (1400 MB) | Installer 3 (1400 MB).

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
