Hey, all: Here’s a new track. It’s a song I wrote back in 2016, a couple of years before I was introduced to the BIAB software. Quite honestly, I never thought much of it, largely because my guitar/vocal recording of it was pretty bad, and I had pretty much forgotten about it. Not sure what made me revisit it and give it the BIAB treatment, but for what it’s worth . . . here it is. Sorry, Marty, no baseball references. Thanks all for the listens and feedback on the mix (which likely still needs some tweaking, with your help). Much appreciated! Hope you are all doing great! Deej Here’s the song:IN ANOTHER WORLD Here are the lyrics:
All of my futures are shot The one thing I want I ain’t got All these bad choices And disparate voices Remind me of all that I’m not And all I can do is just wade on through All the sorrows that darken my door But if she could see what I’m meant to be I wouldn’t be alone anymore In another world I’m prince of a nation In another world I’m a teen pop sensation In another world I’m no zero untold But a hero that glitters in gold All of my futures have swerved Slipped from the real to absurd One slight correction One change in direction And I’d be the man she deserves And all I can see is just misery And it’s shaken my heart to the core But if she could see what I’m meant to be Maybe I’d be the one she adores And here’s the band:RealTracks 387: Bass, Electric, Metal RealTracks 3938: Guitar, Electric, Background AltRockSlowLowSingle RealTracks 3920: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm AltRockTremoloHeld RealTracks 862: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm HardRockWaltz Sustained Strum RealTracks 679: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm RockBritDriving RealTracks 3934: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm AltRockPop RealTracks 3933: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm AltRock PopGritty Chug RealTracks 2870: Piano, Acoustic, Celtic Air Dave RealTracks 1260: Guitar, Electric, Soloist, Pop Shining RealDrums: AltRockSlowSteady8ths^1

Hi Deej.
I was feeling a little depressed until the chorus kicked in. A great lift there. Plenty of passion. Good one.

Cool song, Vic --er, I mean Deej. (there's a story) Love the whole idea of this one, Deej. We all have those other worlds I suppose. What a great band, and I bet it was staggering to mix, but you did an excellent job. Your vocal is always so engaging with a unique quality impossible to imitate. Love the harmony too. In this world of music, I see you as a hero glittering in gold, man. So glad you decided to redo and share this one.

Great song, I like the contrast between the somewhat depressing verses and the chorus. The highlight is the way you bring in the BG vox in the last chorus, that made me want to listen to the song again. Well done!
Solid mix, it's a bit on the bright side, but nothing to worry about.

Nice one. I like your voice. Good decision to rework an older song. It often reveals a hidden gem, and that's what you have here.

This is a classic! Great intro, great chording, enjoyable melody. And the most of all touching lyrics, I guess we are all dreaming of that another world most of our lives, "One slight correction/One change in direction/And I’d be the man she deserves" my favorite lines.
Those hard rock guitars work excellently with your powerful voice. The backing vocals are really well done. Excellent mix, those drums really cut through like a knife. To me, this song really glitters in gold, the best new rock song I have heard for a long long time.

Deej,
Top-shelf.
An excellent write. "Fresh". Interesting. Original. Excellent production. Had to look to see what drums those were - LOVE them!! And good job of finding an appropriate solo - loved that, too... Solid vocals (of course). The harmonies on the chorus are exceptional. Combined with the guitars/bass/drums - it makes for one of the best sounding choruses I've ever heard in the Showcase - a real PRO sound. A very solid mix.
Excellent.

When I saw 7 guitars I thought this has to be a muddy mess, but how wrong I was. This is a great rock-out song and everything sounds mixed well and clean to me. Great job.
https://soundcloud.com/user-646279677BiaB 2025 Windows For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

I could've sworn I'd posted a comment. Deej, you voice is a guarantee of good things in audio. Cool phrasing, cool melody and excellent arrangement. Lyrically the chorus does seem like another you from another time and might well do with an eventual rewrite to represent different goals. As it stands the verses read and sound ace. The chorus sounds great too. Well done.

Brilliant. Dark timbres and nuances, gritty rock music, and your trademark voice - well done. As for the subject matter - we've all been there, especially us musicians, I feel ... right?

Deej...this is another example of your skill at writing great lyrics, marrying them to the right melody and producing and performing them brilliantly...love the drums in this one....did you process them in some way?...love the way they pop! I could hear this at the end of a major film as the credits roll...an film of coarse that was entitled "In Another World"

Great song Deej, and very well done! You always do great vocals, but sometimes the song just begs for your voice, and this is one of them. You did it perfectly. The production is outstanding. Everything is balanced so well. Great choice of instruments, just fantastic in all respects!

Vic, Bob, Marty, BD, Herb, Janne, Floyd, Bass Thumper, Tommy, Muzic Tax, David, Ray, Dave, James, firesong, and Brad:
Thanks all for the listens . . . it is, as always, very much appreciated . . . as is the gracious feedback. A few responses to some of the comments:
Floyd and firesong re the drums: Yeah, when I stumbled upon this RealDrums track it took the song to a different level, and, for a change, it felt like a fit right from the get go. So no processing on them other than some very basic EQ’uing.
Bass Thumper re 7 Guitars: To be honest, I was a little surprised when I first wrote up the band lineup for this post that I had that many guitars in it. I had to go back and double-check . . . but sure enough, it was seven guitars. That said, it’s somewhat misleading, in that they are not all playing at the same time and obviously are playing at different volumes, so hopefully that helped keep it clear enough.
Stay safe and well all—
Deej

I've got to love a lyric that conversationally uses the words "ain't" and "disparate". This sounds really, really good. Lyrically, vocally, instrumentally. Love it!

Hey Deej ...
Man ... you make some of the best music on this forum - and probably a lot of other places. Super mix and vocal. Your music would be a great promo for BIAB - seriously! I could go on and on, but I'll sum it up by simply saying: This Music Gold!
Best to you ...
