May I take your geta sandals off and tickle your beautiful soles?
May I take your tabi socks off and kiss your lovely toes?

This is a scoring project I’ve recently worked on for a Japanese hentai anime series. This song 「May I Kiss Your Feet」 is the theme song for the episode “Under the Sakura Tree”.

During the Tokugawa period of Japan, a deadly ninja squad was sent to assassinate the shogun. A guard samurai was defending the shogun but was badly wounded and fell into the river. He was later rescued by a village girl in the suburban of Edo who he fell in love with. The samurai must make a crucial decision whether to stay with the girl in the village, or to go back and investigate the mastermind behind several mysterious murders of ronins.

Beginning Guitar Solo
In this scene, when the guitar solo starts to play, the samurai takes the village girl to a sakura tree, and takes her geta sandals off, begins to tickle her feet, and the village girl is laughing and feeling happy.

Second Guitar Solo
In this scene, when the second guitar solo starts to play, the samurai takes the village girl’s white tabi socks off, begins to kiss her soles and toes, and the village girl falls in love with the samurai, wants to marry him.

The arrangement is good,as is the mix.
Nice tone for the guitar.
I prefer the 1st solo.
The "shredding" part of the 2nd solo didn't offer much beyond a flurry of notes well chosen, well played but inexpressive.
As program music, that is following a narrative outlined in writing and expressing/painting the scene with sound, I couldn't really say it was successful. I think I'd rather have heard the music and been left to interpret is myself.

Cheers

Very good arrangement and production in general. And there is some impressive guitar noodling, well done.
It would be nice to hear/see it in the context of the film production.

MusicVillain,
Very interesting usage. I have heard tunes in showcase made for theater, commercials, etc., but never for anime.
Nice guitar playing! Very clear mix. Thank you for sharing.

MusicVillian:

Really great sound on this . . . impressive mix and overall solid production work. Engaging instrumental and could definitely see this as part of a film score. Both guitar solos worked fine for me, though I can see where a listener may find the second perhaps a bit too busy—but I liked it very much and thought it makes that slowed down outdo all the more effective. Good stuff!

Kind regards,

Deej

I can't say if it's fit for use in a score (that's what the director is for), but I like the music!

Nice work on the guitar. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
