I'm trying to get Biab VST handling fixed so we don't have to use Element

This is just initial steps, once you get it setup you simply Load Group > xxx.tgs It can also use VST3.

This is using EZKeys for Playable RealTracks, the same could be done with EZBass and EZDrummer. Their Midi Out is just sent to Sforzando.
It's a lot eZer editing and changing midi in Toontracks than in Biab Piano Roll !

Create Midi Chord track and turn volume down
in Biab Mixer right click the an empty track name > Edit MIDI > Generate Chord Track on This Track (set to complex chords and # Ticks > 0)

Load Element on an empty Midi track
enable EXT to sync to Biab (top left).
load EZKeys (under Toontrack) hooking Midi Input up to Midi In of EZKeys
load Sforzando (under Plogue) hooking EZKeys Midi Out to Sforzando Midi In and Sforzando Audio Out to Audio Output.

On the Biab Piano RealTrack track enable Playable RealTracks in Piano Roll
make a note of the sfz it uses
right click on the FX slot and Re-Route Midi to the Element track
set Sforzando in Element to the the same sfz, it's usually Band-in-a-Box Sounds > Piano > Acoustic Grand Piano

Setting Section in EZKeys
in EZKeys Menu > Enable MIDI Out
whatever section in the Piano Roll you have set for Playable RealTrack
high light those chords on the Biab chord sheet
now drag the "Chords" track from the Mixer to MID DROP
drag the green MID into EZKeys track to bar number +2, if you double click on Biab chord sheet bar you will see the same cursor position in EZKeys (if it starts on another beat just adjust the midi in EZKeys to start on that beat as you can't select beats in the chord sheet YET)
in EZKeys Browser select the midi loop you want to be played in Biab
down on the EZKeys track on the left you will see "USE BROWSER MIDI" select this with the chord section midi in EZKeys track selected then use "REPLACE" if it's what you want
You will need to adjust the volume to match the RT audio, you have track volume, a volume in Element and in Sforzando.
To render the track just solo both tracks and drag Master to DROP.

Zoom++

Thank you for this tutorial!
I'm using Rayzoon Jamstix for drums in my DAW so I guess setup for BIAB will be similar to EZD2.

Here's EZBass
same deal as EZKeys create a Midi Chord track, highlight the chords on the chord sheet where EZBass will take over, drag the Chords track to DROP MID then drag that into EZBass to the same bar number +2, click on the chord and select bass riff to replace with.
This is not using PlayableRealTracks in Piano Roll as the were no charts with the 514 Funk Slap Bass so I found a Modern Slap Funk Bass SFZ in the PlayableRealTracks and just used the volume automation to mute the original RT.

In Biab RealDrums are limited to 2 bar endings, with EZDrummer Jamstix you can create custom endings for RealDrums. If you don't have these, tho there is a free version of Jamstix, you can use the Playable RealDrums and just drop the midi ending in.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
