My Take on the 1962 classic instrumental 'Telstar'. My arrangement is based on the 1981 version by The Shadows. The BT was an interesting exercise to put together and I am grateful to The_Blooze for sharing with me his SGU for the Tornados version. My SGU started out as a midi style DUBLINRK and I subbed in various RTs and an MST. In hindsight it might have been better to have started with a BLANK style. To get those pesky microchords working correctly I enlisted the help of our BB Forum friends who were, as always, helpful and brilliant. For those interested in such things my 'chain' for this tune is my HBM 40th Anniversary Strat copy - Alesis Q2 effects unit with programmed Roland echo patch - Joyo ACTone Vox amp emulator - DAW. That's it. K.I.S.S. Tracks are - RealTracks in song: 4276:Bass, Electric, ProgRockTOA-only Ev16 130 RealTracks in song: 1034:Guitar, 12-String Electric, Strumming Ev 165 MIDI SuperTracks in song: 1804:Synth Pad, PopUplift Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 1034:Guitar, 12-String Electric, Strumming Ev 165 RealDrums in Song:PopPromiseEv16^5-a: Snare, HiHat , b: Snare, Ride https://youtu.be/TyWrTTynJ08Bests Ian

Hi Jim, yes, it was a lot of fun to do and I was pleasantly surprised how close to The Shadows version the BT got. Bests Ian

Hi Jeff, glad you enjoyed it. The BT was a Challenge for sure and I got close to Hank Marvins sound too. Probably go downhill from here onwards. Lol Bests Ian

Ian.
another fine effort…kudos.
as a londoner bred…let me say joe meek n' the tornados i bet would be happy to see how this song is appreciated STILL all these years later.
dont forget the 'toilet flushing'/reverse lol.
fwiw ..over the years ive often wanted to try in bb/rb one of my fav oldies… del shannons'...'searching'. (grrreat vocals he does.)
years ago as i was a high male soprano (in church) i used to be able to hit those high notes on searching…but…sadly no more….cos as i age I'm losing the capability to hit those high notes. i'm just not good enough anymore with v high notes...sigh.
but i thought i would have another go this week in a lower register for fun. i'm currently going thru' 100's of bb styles to see best style fit for searching. if ya have any style recommendations, I'm all ears. of course i wont issue it cos i dont want some entity hassling me. its just for my own fun n' the challenge of the song.
once again ian…great job…give my regards to 'blighty'.
ps...england beat italy 2-1...groovy.
happiness.
om

Hi om Glad you liked it. The Shadows ditchedvthe sound effects in their 1981 version. Lol
FWIW - Keep Searchin' should be quite do-able in BB. I'm a RealTeacks kind of guy and there's certainly an RD that will do the job and a strummed guitar RT too. Build up from there. What you do about the Musitron solo is up to you! Lol Bests Ian

Ian.
you should do some ventures…eg pipeline. that 'doo doo' repeat on guitar is tough to do.
I'm just ok on guitar …but never ever will be at your level. tho' i can do the strum on searching. (I cheat on leads…lol…n' comp useing cut/paste to get what I want.) Plus if one listens closely there are subtle chord strokes happening on searching in the bg. I can do those. actually you're right ..i'm finding lots of stuff i can use from bb/rb…styles/rt's/rd's etc etc.
re mellotron.
actually the new pg synthmaster is cranking me up…loads of sounds. i'm stoked with synthmaster. plus ive heard some pretty decent mellotron vsts. so i'll experiment with em' n' layered with some synthmaster for giggles. the lead on searching is only short…but i'm thinking about doubling the no of lead bars if i can get a really groovy mellotron sound. ive already got all the chords entered so i can test if my vocs will work or not...lol.
happiness.

Everything about this is perfection and quality. Especially the triplets at 2:20. A fantastic delivery

what you have achieved on BIAB is absolutely fabulous Thank you Bob. Your comments much appreciated. The Shadows dispensed with all that Tornados stuff and played it relatively straight. Fortunately. Bests Ian
