This instantly reminded be of Buddy Holly - not the sound or the arrangement but the vocal melody and lyric. NOT a bad thing by any means.
I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Brent's BIAB solo - they always seem to be steeped in Country tone & twang.
That doesn't detract from the song though...solid stuff that works really well.

Cheers

Nigel, sure like your style man. I also liked the guitars, and like Misha, I thought you played them off each other very well during the solo. Nice.

Good song, you arranged and mixed the RealTracks very well into a professional and coherent sounding song.
Best part (as always) are your vocals.
Very, very good smile

We definitely hear a touch of Ry Cooder in your vocal, and that is good.

Nice, laid back r&b with a very clean mix.
Nice soundstage on our monitors.

Cool!

Hi Nigel,

I still love you, at least your songs and this one in particulair.
What a nice, uncomplicated song, with very good lead parts.
Your vocals are, as always, very good. Straight to the heart!
That's why I started my post as I did...

Hi Misha,

Thanks for your comments - yes those two guitars do sit nicely together. The reverb on the left panned guitar was Real Track was a bit of a handful.

Man, I would've loved your shows, Nigel. Always such good material with an engaging presentation. Excellent vocal and band choice. You captured a great R&B feel. It's one of those songs that would come on the radio and I'd keep waiting for it to come around in rotation. So nice to be able to simply push Play again.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Nigel,

Very cool recording . . . such an engaging groove and vibe to this one. Yeah, a nice homage to the late 50's sound. I can hear what ray means by saying it reminds him of a tune Holly would have written. The vocal is stellar and the production spot on. Excellent work!

All my best to you,

Deej

As usual, top flight production and singing. You've to a very easy-going vocal that's expressive and fun to listen to. It makes an already solid song that much better.

I'm going to disagree with ray - I though the guitar solo fit right in.

No complaints here! smile

Hey Nigel,
You are known for top shelf and this is no exception.

Do I hear a bit of "Stand by Me" in this ?

Great job.

Yes I agree the two guitars do work very nicely together. Only challenge is the large reverb on the left hand guitar.

The oldies feeling of the late 50's is very well expressed.
Great selection of each instrument.
Vocals are also great.

Nigel,

This really sounds good to me! A great vocal! I don't know if anyone else made this connection, but your vocal really reminds me of the late, great Micky Gilley on his hit "Stand By Me"! I will have to re-visit some of those great sounding Realtracks you used! Nice Production! Thanks, TB

Excellent production. Everything sits "right".
The vocal has a nice "fat" sound - sitting in the mix perfectly.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
