Hi, all: Christian passed this instrumental track my way and asked me to do my best to put some lyrics to it. Well, I did . . . but it became apparent after my first vocal take that the song was in slightly too high of a key. And here’s where Christian really stepped up . . . taking the instrumental track he created virtually in final form, but then redoing it entirely in a lower key. In doing so, he went from what was largely an acoustic guitar track to a more piano centered tune . . . but it think and hope it worked out even for the better. So, here’s the final . . . music by Christian, words and vocal by yours truly. Thanks in advance for the listen and feedback. Hope everyone is safe and well, Deej Here’s the song:SHE'S GONE FOREVER Here are the lyrics:She’s gone forever Packed up her broken dreams Split this scene in search of better skies She’s gone forever Headed back to New Orleans As far away from me as she can fly The more you try to stay together The more it hurts to say goodbye She’s gone forever Took her laugh and her pretty smiles Down the road a thousand miles away She’s gone forever Funny, man, how all this while I’m still hanging on to the hope that she might stay She’s gone forever And I know It ain’t never gonna change Come whatever Yeah, I’ll find the sun again But I’ll always feel the rain And here’s the band:RD ModernCountry16ths^3 RT 2877 Acoustic Bass RT 1602 Piano RT 364 Acoustic Guitar RT 3184 Acoustic Guitar RT 3150 Mandola RT 3717 Baritone Acoustic Guitar RT 4295 Electric Guitar RT 1599 Electric Guitar RT 3115 Nylon Guitar

Super job. Putting lyrics and melody to an instrumental is usually a monumental task, but you seem to have pulled it off with ease, Deej. Sure helps when Chris is the one working the musical side. A excellent production. Love the flow and feel. So cool to hear one of your songs with Deej's vocal AND lyrics, Chris. Of course the harmony was perfectly selected to draw desperation in the lyrics. Loved it. MORE!! Encore!!

Great songwriting team. Powerful and passionate. Great ballad, thought I heard a touch of Eagles there. Well done.

You guys are sure making a great team. Really good write Deej, and the music was great! I thought that mandola was a fantastic surprise - I was prepared for more piano, or maybe the acoustic guitar, but the mandola was perfect. Then when the acoustic guitar lead came in a little later it had a powerful effect. Very nice sound, very good team.

Sometimes you get a totally different song when you do a rework like you did.
I like the piano centered song this is.
Nicely done.

Deej you put the perfect vocal track to Christian's instrumental.
Deej I could hear the pain in your vocal, brilliant work. Great harmonies! Great backing tracks and mix.
An outstanding collaboration!

That’s a lovely ballad and we can feel the heartache in your voice.
The piano, indeed, is quite a nice match for the lyric and your vocal.
Another fine collab by you and Christian!

PS I have found that the MidiSuperTracks are stunningly rich if you have a good grand piano sound handy. And there is a MST equivalent of your RT. FWIW!

Great vocal & lyric Deej. There's a heartbroken edge to most of your performances. Lovely.

Deej,
As a melody of Chris, it has a very innovative approach, unlike the usual French chanson style. Your vocals fit this song perfectly. Sadness hits me directly. I've listened to some of your collaborations so far, and they're always very impressive. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

Mournful and moving - the lyrics fit like a glove.
Emotive singing, and a good arrangement as well.

An anthem! Beautiful backing track, stunning words, passionate vocal and harmonies! Love the mandola interludes. The return to the B major chord, from other, minor chords is (writing-wise, speaking) inspired. Congratulations - so much talent coming together to create a mini masterpiece. Well done.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
