Hi All, Here's something called Diary Of Mercer Street. Everybody’s moving this summer to a red brick building on Houston Street Like an empty downtown cousin standing on the corner keeping the beat No windows or window panes to be seen Rats like cats and a couple of old Village Queens That was Mercer Street in 1965 Yeah, sounds like Mercer Street in '65 Everybody’s shouting in spanish as they drill the sidewalks in the summer heat For a couple of hundred a month was a basement space in this Soho suite Now Fanelli tosses the drunks out every night A bodega on Prince Street yeah that's where you go for a bite That was Mercer Street in 1965 Yeah, sounds like Mercer Street in '65 Everybody’s painting on the sidewalk like an artist with a brush and some chalk No galleries or café scenes to be found so you got to hang and gawk Colors drip on the canvas hard and mean And dusk dusk builds a halo round her Afro Sheen That was Mercer Street in 1965 Sounds like Mercer Street in '65 Everybody’s quiet at night but the guy with no shoes in the cardboard box And the rambling gutter talk of the junkies in the shadows on the block Between folkies and the new real estate pawns And all the subway girls blowing north after dawn That was Mercer Street in 1965 Yeah, sounds like Mercer Street in '65 BIAB Tracks: 995: Bass, Electric, 8thsPumpin Ev 150 2194: Piano, ElectricVintage, Rhythm Ev 085 3720: Guitar, Baritone Acoustic Rhythm Ev 150 3332: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm, GrittyRockFusion Ev 130 2534: Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, HeldChords RealDrums: Rock^01-a:Closed Hat, Snare, b:Open Hat, Snare As always - thanks for listening! Bob, one of your best. Super lyrics and spoken word. Loved that groove. Great mix

Lou Reed meets The Cars..... very cool groove.
I like it.

My first guitar player lived on Mercer Street and it WAS in 1965. Yeah, this cool song is definitely relatable. Your lyrics make it so memorable and nostalgic, and I really like to cool vocal, Bob. It tells the story so well.

Cool choice of vocals. Personally, I'd prefer if the chorus was sung in a normal way to create some contrast, but the song already has a great vibe as it is. Well done!

Bob,
I agree with Mario! This is one of your finest! The spoken words of the verses work perfectly! I kept imagining the chorus kicking in and making up a loud vocal belting out the chorus but oh well, You did it how it needed to be done! Excellent, TB

You’ve created another very vivid portrait of another place and time, Bob.
We were imagining it all like a black and white video.
The band ROCKS!
The arrangement and mix are superb and your soulful spoken word is very engaging. Perhaps even in an early Dylan manner.
New Jersey may have Springsteen but New York has Bob Dean!

Everything comes together nicely here - the vibe, the lyrics and the vocals. Very cool.
