So, here is another tune with me playing piano, and the guitar parts "between the cracks," so to speak. Trying to make it "groovy"...in the true sense of the word. Hope you like it. YOU GOT WHAT I NEEDBy David Snyder https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs3/you-got-what-i-needV1 I need more than a voice On my telephone I need a place where someone needs me A place to call home I need more than a preacher Tellin’ me that I’m wrong I need someone listen While I’m singing my song CH And you know all the places in me Where I’m hurt and afraid And nervous to see But you listen to my heartache Then you love me tenderly And God knows this is heaven Yeah you got what I need V2 I need more than a dream To keep me alive I need someone to hold So I can survive I need more than a whisper From up in the sky I need a kiss on my lips Or I will break down and die CH And you know all the places in me Where I’m hurt and afraid And nervous to see But you listen to my heartache Then love me tenderly And God knows this is heaven cause you got what I need Inst. David,
Love this song. Sung with soul and conviction...
The production is outstanding - the BIAB bass and drums tracks are blended seamlessly with your piano and guitar parts. So nice! Perfect mix.
Again, loved it!
Bob

David, A slight nudge to lift the vocals perhaps. I'm not a fan of popnslap bass but the rest of the bass works well with the rhythm to give this a good groove. I like it, yeah I do.

David,
A good love song. Interesting tracks. An emphatic vocal. Piano works. Your guitar brought Neil Young to mind...

Another David Snyder song is just what I need. Hey, and I want to hear that Brooklyn Rain in the style of Bob Dean someday. Great idea. Piano adds so much --good choice. I'm not a fan of the busy bass either, but you make it work. Nice hook in the lyrics.

David, Excellent arrangement & vocals. I think I am with Ray on lifting vocals a bit. Maybe slightly more reverb on vocals to sit better in mix? Thank you for sharing, Misha.

I like it! But I'm too lazy to give a detailed reason why. Actually, I sort of liked the bass. For me, it worked with the snappy sidestick drum. Now, if only the vocal were a bit more artificial, that would be perfection! ... Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Brilliant! I don't know why, but I hear Stevie Wonder singing this! How I got to that conclusion, don't ask me, but it's there Anyway, bravo. You're yourself, a real individual, a real original, not one of the bunch, so to speak. What a joy to hear.

Outstanding song, one of your best IMHO. Super piano, guitar, and vocal. I really liked that bass line! Great mix also. Another winner for sure.
I just posted a selfie and all of the responses were get well soon!

Hi David,
Enjoyed this song a lot! Good lyrics, nicely sung and delicious melody. To me the vocals were just good in the mix, just like the bass. So, no complains at all, just a good tought because of the lyrics...

I like your song, especially the lyrics and what you do with it. My bass choice would have been different (the pops don't fit I think) , but other than that, this is a good piece of music.

Hi David ...
What I like about all your songs is the conviction in your vocals. And your lyrics are insightful and always capture the mood of the musical soundscape - great prosody!
Nice tickling of the ivories, too. Another gem!

David...nice song...great groove...I love the drums and bass...your guitar work was tight and loved the tone...the piano was perfect with the simple chords...my only crit and this is my opinion...to me it feels like the vocals are strained a bit and a lower key might be better to find your sweet spot...now that's easy to suggest and hard to rectify after the recording is done...that's just one guys opinion and worth what it's worth...you certainly write great stuff!
