James,
This is a very nice piece of music. Love the fragile feel - it has a very serene quality.

Sounds like some of your favorite chord progressions.
Pleasant, but a bit too wandering for my taste without a melody or clear sections to guide it.

Here's what I like most about this, James: With your signatures changes in this beautiful piece I can still hear a melody and you singing a lamenting lyric to it. Let me ask you, did you just add in chords and let the piano have at it, or did you change some of its interpretation? The Ctl+F8 feature is fantastic for that. Either way, it is obviously James. --Hey, there's the title of your next album: Obviously James.

James, I agree with David's comment... Sounds like some of your favorite chord progressions.

HI James ...
It's always nice to see a new post from you.
A very alluring and beautiful song. I do agree that a lead instrument would anchor this gorgeous bed. Something simple, such as a violin or a "not-too-busy" acoustic lead guitar. I would analogize that topping off an otherwise delicious soup with the perfect spices.
Wishing you the very best.
Alan

The change at 0.30 is 100% YOU. i do wish BIAB spat out some lower notes so that the stereo image was more complete but that's life. My brain filled with Jamesque lyrics and melody as I listened. Tres bon.

Bob: thank you. David Snyder: thanks! David Cuny: I know, the structure is a little abstract, haha ... but there IS one, although perhaps too well-hidden Nevertheless, thanks so much for giving it a spin, and for your comments! Marty: no, I just added the chords and let it work, largely. I didn't know there was the Ctrl+F8 feature! All I did do, in Song Settings, is to ask it to play the exact chords I wrote, i.e. not to interpret them in the "Natural Arrangement" way . But, apart from that, I put the chords in, chose the piano track ... and the rest was BIAB. Thanks for listening and for your always kind comments! floyd: I can see where you're coming from but see the comment for David Cuny, above. There IS method to my madness, somewhere, but - as I wrote - perhaps I hid it too well, this time! Either way, thanks for listening and for your honest comments! Alan: thanks! Always great to hear from you. The reason I didn't add a melody is precisely for the reason of the song title: "Nothing Else To Say". There is no melody, here ... just an accompaniment which acts as a memory recall device - if that makes any sense. I.e.: it makes you remember, but the melody is lacking. At least, that was the concept ... but I wanted whoever hears it to have their own idea of what it's about - just saying that the lack of melody was a deliberate choice. Nevertheless, again: thank you for listening and for commenting, kindly, as always: it's ALWAYS helpful to hear different perspectives - we all learn from one another, always! Elliott: thank you. Ray: haha, yes, some changes are indeed "me". Thank you for being so kind in listening, and in not panning it in your comments I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I think I'm going to take a break from songwriting, for a while, so I can come back refreshed, to it - but this is a good a song as any to take a break on, no? Thanks again!

Hard to add to Ray's comment: "The change at 0.30 is 100% YOU. i do wish BIAB spat out some lower notes so that the stereo image was more complete but that's life. My brain filled with Jamesque lyrics and melody as I listened. Tres bon." BTW, have you considered using MST's? When there is an MST equivalent of an RT they often sound amazingly better than the RT as you can try different sounds on them. Cheers, J&B

James, this is a fantastic backing track with a great chord progression but it is screaming for a lead to be played on top of it. I would suggest a solo violin or oboe. Note this is just my opinion and others may not agree with me.
I just posted a selfie and all of the responses were get well soon!
