Soulfully Slow

A slow song that hopefully I played soulfully.
This is really me just having some fun.

BiaB style - Slow Soul - Smooth Jazz - Soulful
Tempo - 65 BPM

I deleted the strings, guitar, and bass
Piano - Keyzone Classic - preset - Basic EP
The piano lead is from EZKeys 2
Drums - Steven Slate's SSD 5 - preset - Funk 2
Percussion - Various Kontakt instruments

Me- my Jay Turser jazz box
My Squire P-Bass
And via my wind controller the Swam Tenor Sax - preset - Sax 2 - warm

As always all comments are welcomed.

Mario,

Beautiful and soulful... Love the pace and melody. The mix is excellent.

Mario...you remain "midi-master Mario" with this very peaceful and relaxing piece...my only thought is on the mix where I would bring the percussion down a smidge...to me it's dominating a bit and steals something from the melody and other instruments...but that's a minor nit in a real nice song!

Nice!

That sax sounds great! So alive.
Cool idea to get EZKeys to do the piano solo.
The drums are good. Best ride cymbal I've heard in some time...
Good mix.

Mario,
Very cool wind controller / sax work. Easy going tune. Flows very nicely, could go longer smile
Thank you for sharing.

Thanx Dan, but I'm not sure about that "MIDI-Master" comment. I thought the percussion was OK but I will have another look at it. Thanx for bringing that up.

Thanx Floyd. I am slowly learning how to use that wind controller. EZKeys does have some great piano solos.

Thanx Misha. Those Swam VSTis are excellent products. They can sound very organic.

Sounds great, Mario! Love the sax work especially. Nice tone on the guitar too, are you using a sim?

Hi Dave,

Yes I am using an amp sim called Stomp Board. I ran my Jay Turser jazz box a clean amp setting, added FX Blue-Cat ReGuitar set at wide jazz pickup and then I EQed it.

Stomp board, https://www.kvraudio.com/product/stomp-board-by-bbe-sound, at $19 USD is a no-brainer IMHO.

A sax has always warm and friendly sound, you bring that sound soulfully across the Atlantic, very skillfully played. The pretty melancholic melody evokes memories, like about summer that is over again. And that piano part is surprising, but beautiful variation to the theme. I always enjoy diving into another universe through your music.

Mario,
I think I've told you a million times already, but I'm always amazed at what you do with that wind thing.
LOVE the saxophone!

Thanx Janne. I am trying to add more realism to my VSTi stuff. EZKeys 2 is a fantastic tool and works perfectly with BiaB.

Thanx so much. I am still trying to learn that wind thing. It does add a touch of realism to VSTi horn parts.

As usual, exactly as described on the tin.

That sax has a nice buzz on the lower notes.

Good mix, too!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Ah yes ... standing on an overlook watching the clouds float by.

Excellent all the way around in performance, track choice and mix.

The goodness of mellow.

Excellent listen. Very cool phrasing. Loved the back and forth between the sax and the guitar. Two very cool textures. Well done
