Here is a new song for 2023.

You take a small journey and you never know who you meet along the way.

Glide

Vocals, Lyrics, Video Production, Song Production - Robert Cordrey
Guitar Solo and fills, Song Production , Mix and Mastering - Scott Collingwood

Spirit Level Youtube Channel

Lyrics

Glide

we were so young
when Bilbo found the ring
told me you needed to believe
in the one true king

said I`d go with you
all the way to Mount Doom
so hard to see human habits
turning habitat to ruin

walking through the myth
would heal everything
come the dawnless day we`d be carried
to Lorien on the eagles wing

look in the eyes of someone you saved
in the autumn of earth
I`ll read you the last page
glide glide
stumble and glide
on on
the road goes ever on
glide glide glide

living simply,we prayed
or at least we tried
met Gollum and Gandalf
sometimes we sat by the road and cried

if these really are the last days
in the autumn of the earth
read me the last page
glide glide
stumble and glide
on on
the road goes ever on
glide glide
over all love presides
on on
the road goes ever on
in the end nobody walks
we all glide

Interesting narrative...blending Tolkien with climate...is to be applauded.
I'm sure J.R.R. would've been horrified at the result of modern convenience.

The lead in the intro, solo & outro sounds good, and is well developed but doesn't seem to quite sit...maybe too loud, maybe in need of a common reverb - I'm not sure.

My ears twitched at the pronunciation of "Lorien"...it shouldn't have stood out but seems "foreign" given the version my mind settled with in the mid 70s.
"...we all glide..." had me think of "...we all float down here..." silly of my mind but that's where it went.

I listened rather than watched...I'm still trying to get my head around the staggered semi-morphing and inclination to anime style images that current A.I. videos seems to build from.

Like ray, I'm a "listen, don't watch" kind of person. smile

The hand percussion gave the song a bit of a folk feel, but the guitar and sparse instrumentation kept it from sounding like a traditional arrangement. Interesting.

As Scott said, the song takes you on a small journey. Cool. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Got your back, Robert. I'm a watcher --well, more of two spinner cuz like Ray & David I like to hear without distraction. Still, I think the AI vid is prtty cool.

What a wonderful song, Scott & Robert. I'm not very familiar with Tokien & Froddo and all that, but I get a lot from your storytelling. Loved the ride. Excellent intrumentation (especially that magical guitar) really makes this an engaging song.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Scott / Robert,

Wow! Very cool video and song. It has a psychedelic folk vibe that is very appealing.

Love the vocal and guitar solo - great production as well.

Really enjoyed this one.

Thanks Marty for the awesome comments. Robert is a master story teller. He paints very unique images with his lyrics. Really love to see the lyrics come alive in the videos he is creating. Everyone he produces blows me away. This is a very cool technology.

SL,

Interesting lyrics.
Interesting tracks. I had to look at your list of instruments - I could not pick out many of the instruments...it actually sounded like you used several synths to create a blended background ("current" sounding).
Nice guitar fills.
Good mix.

Nice, interesting piece from you two.
I don't know much about Tolkien but that doesn't stop my mind taking a trip.

Well produced.

Thanks Floyd for checking out the song. The song was originally created in BIAB then migrated to Realband where Robert likes to do his original recording.

He then sends me the seq file and I will open and I have Realband set to create midi files from the Realtracks. I created the individual tracks from Realband then import them in to Studio One. I will use bits and pieces of the midi files in Studio One to create violin tracks using the vst's like BBC Symphony. I pulled the mandolin track and the fiddle track back under the midi tracks as they clashed abit on some chords will the songs melody.

Glad you liked the song

Scott & Robert

Very ethereal, nice composition with some pretty guitar playing.

Looks like Robert had fun with Kaiber Ai.

Very nicely done.

Smooth & mysterious tune. Complex arrangement, but listens well. Ace vocals by Robert. Scott, solid work on production. Don't consider me rude, but I only watched bits of video. While it has pretty & colorful images, I find constant morphing a bit disturbing on eyes. Musically great. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Robert and Scott,

Your song was the first I heard after my return yesterday.
A very sensitive song with Robert's characteristic vocals and the lead guitar I know so well from you, Scott.
In a sense they made me glide too! Accompanied by that beautiful melody.

Robert, your lyrics are wonderful. They involved all main characters from the Lord of the Ring.
I did like that story very much!

There is one 'but'; At the start of the singing it looked like you were a bit out of tune.
Maybe you were 'gliding' in the correct tune, but it distrackted me somewhat.
But that only lasted no more than a second.
I enjoyed your song very much!

Thanks,
Hans

Robert and Scott...I am a big Tolkien fan...not sure what he would have thought but I found it interesting...Scott, I am a big fan also of anything you do...your guitar work is always stellar...I really liked the melody...the ethereal nature of the track was cool...there were some vocal pitch issues but as Hans said, "Maybe you were 'gliding' in the correct tune, but it distracted me somewhat." I enjoy your collaborations!

Robert & Scott, even though I am a big Sci-Fi and fantasy fan I am not a big Tolkien fan, but I really enjoyed this song.

Super backing band for that great vocal and super sweet guitar.

Great work on this gentlemen!

You and Robert have the psychedelic other world atmosphere down in the audio and video performances, Scott.

Good band you’ve assembled, especially your guitar and the percussion. Robert’s vocals took us to that magical world. smile

Enjoyed the journey!

Thanks Vic for checking out the tune. We have been having lots of fun moving to the video style music pieces. Is very cool adding another layer to our compositions.

Nice fantasy folky tune with a vivid story. Nice band, kind of mixture where each instrument plays its own way, but magically they work together perfectly.

The video looks great, it is not easy to create all the prompts that AI uses to generate the scenes, lots of misses when I've tried. What Robert has created really supports the story and adds another layer to your production.

I feel like I'm gliding safely along the road to the fairytale land accompanied by Robert's voice & harmony and Scott's cinematic guitar.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
