Mercy Me

I'm just having a little fun.

BiaB style - Hip Hop 4 - Funky hip hop Groove
Tempo - 95 BPM

I deleted the guitar, strings, bass, and utility track.
Piano - Keys of the 70's - preset EP. I added the chorus.
Drums - Steven Slate's SSD-5
Percussion - Kontakt - Brio
Note that I modified the BiaB tracks to better fit the song.

I am playing the bass guitar (Squire P-Bass), lead guitar (SX Tele), and via my keyboard controller the Swam jazz flute. Why the keyboard and not the wind controller you ask? Because I was having a mild bout of Covid and didn't want to contaminate the wind controller's mouthpiece. I am now over it.

Mario,

Sounds great! Love the jazz flute sound and the interplay with your guitar.

Feels like a late night at the jazz club!

First of all I’m glad the Covid was mild. You do some amazing work with midi. The flute sounds great. I enjoyed the jam, Tom

Cool sound and rhythm. A different territory than what I've heard from you lately. All sounds good, especially that Tele.

Mario ...

I always enjoy your little impromptu jams and and "having fun" cuts. You're very creative, and I love the diversity of your music. Glad the COVID was mild, and you're over it. Di and I both had a moderate bout about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I'm fine - it further exacerbated Di's health issues, though. She's struggling quite a bit these days.

That was a really cool listen!

Best to you.

Alan

Thanx so much Bob. I'm a big fan of Swam VSTis. I wish I had more money to buy them all.

Thanx. That Tele was a $100 USD new purchase.

Thanx Vic. I could not get those stops in BiaB so I had to do them in my DAW. Thanx God for copy and paste!

Exactly what I would enjoy at a local coffee shop or pub......diversity of sounds and interplay in a relaxed groove that sounds like it was fun to record/play. Brings a smile!

Nice performances on guitar, bass and flute...cool interactions with the flute and guitar.

The mix is excellent with great dynamics. Your light compression (or lack thereof) always serves up open mixes.
And that is right in our mix wheelhouse FWIW!

Fun smile

Thanx so much Janice and Bud. IIRC I only used compression on the bass track.

That's a cool tune! Reminds me of Steely Dan, my rock gateway to jazz. Everything sounds great, even (especially?) the budget guitar and bass. "It's not the guitar, it's the player" is one of my favorite expressions. And you're a PLAYER! Really enjoyed it!

DC Ron, thanx for this extremely kind review. All of my guitar's and basses, with the exception of my Casio MIDI controller strat, are budget instruments. By necessity I am a bottom feeder.

Mario, Ha! I've been a guitar synth tinkerer for about 30 years. Still have two Casio PG-380s (synth + MIDI) but have owned the very nice MG-510 (MIDI only) as well. The PG-380s are by far the best guitar synth that don't require outboard processing. Am pretty experienced at repairing them, too, 'cause that's what it takes to keep 30 year old technology firing...

Mario,

Nice one. Really like the drum work in this one—really pops. The flute sounds pretty solid as well—front and center, though a little bit of a synth feel to it that, regardless works well. When you say, “I modified the BIAB tracks to better fit the song,” I’m curious about what you mean by that. In what way modified? Would be cool to hear what you did (i.e., learning opportunity for me). Thanks—and good tune!

All my best,

Deej

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Mario.

You really are very talented at creating music that sets ambience.
So many of your works reflect, create and interpret mood.
This piece is no exception. It all come together very nicely.
I hope your covid is done and dusted! I've only had the virus once but it took me a long time to recover fully from it (and that was despite having four vaccinations).

Wishing you well!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
