I store the vast majority of my songs in a dedicated directory designated as my home directory but there are some I am saving in a different location.
I tried using the Open Favorites Folder (alt-shift-f) command which brings up a list. The problem is that the folder locations in that list are old and most of them I don't need to see anymore. Is there a text file that can be modified using a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++ ?
I tried searching and looking a most of the *.txt files in the BB directory but could not find anything. I want to clean up the list to get rid of most of the entries.
If you select the Open Special > Open Favorite Songs, does the item appear there at all? If so, there is a Delete button option available that may work?

Audio Track: I think you misunderstood my question. I was talking about "Open Favorite Folder", not "Open Favorite Song". I want to clean up the folder list that shows up in the popup window.
If you open the Favorite Folder using the shortcut Alt-Shift-F, you do not have the option of doing anything except pick one of your last used folders. If you use the command Open Special > Favorite Folders, you get an different popup screen, which also does not let you delete anything but it does give you a couple of more buttons, none of them which gives you the option of editing the list.
Hi, I did follow what you were trying to achieve, but when the Favorites Folder didn't have any edit option available, I wondered if it might be listed in the Favorite Songs dialog instead.
I'lll keep trying ideas....

Following. I recall looking for this a few years ago and not finding a way to edit it. Perhaps this is headed for the Wishlist unless someone else know how to do it.
In most software, I would expect to be able to set my preferred folder in Preferences. Before 2018, and the reorganization of folders in BIAB, this was even more perplexing.

Armed with that information, all I needed to do was to rename the file so BIAB could recreate a new list that only showed the root directory. I then went to File>Open from the menu and then chose the directory that I wanted to be on the Favorite Folder list and that fixed the problem. As long as I don't open another SGU or MGU file from another directory, the list will stay clean as you can see from the new graphic.
I will mark as Resolved since there is no easy way to edit the binary file, unless someone else has a better solution.

Uwe, yes, an idea for a solution, however, without knowing the exact content of the fie (headers, data length, CRC checksums and more), it would be easy to corrupt the file content by simply editing out the necessary ASCII data fields.
Using a Hex Editor would not be my recommendation.

Looks like ChatPG is wrong. I just tried it on my Windows version and right-clicking does absolutely nothing. The easy fix is what i did, just either rename or delete the binary file and let BIAB make a new one.

I cannot, however, get this to work on MacOS and don't have the Windows version.
I just use the Windows Explorer open dialog to create favorites, I just have a folder "A Locations" pinned to the top that contains shortcuts to different folders.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
