I have BIAB download and install manager installed as a stand alone program accessed through a desktop shortcut.. The version number is 1.08 according to 'help about......' and it worked perfectly last year. It shows all my downloads from 2023 and 2022 upgrades. On the support page is a link to'Install manager v 1.0.77 (Dec 1 2023').
I'm confused - are these two separate programs? which should i use when i upgrade? Can i use my existing program without worrying?

Thanks moultipass - but why? If the programs are the same my existing program is a higher version. If different what's the difference? Why should I change?

Thanks but still confused - my version worked last year. What advantage will the otherprogram give me?
moultipass's post seemd to have disappeared but he sid to use the new version - so that's why i'm confused!

Yes, 1.0.77 was created as part of the 2024 release. It obviously has functionality to handle the 2024 files.

I remember Andrew's post but the numbering confused me. My old progamme seemed to be 'newer' than the latest download. It confused Chantelle too when i went onto live chat. Quote from the transcript........... Bob 5:40:41 PM this is my exsiting program - higher number than the update on support site Chantelle 5:42:15 PM Interesting, I'm not sure where you would have downloaded a 1.0.8 version from. We'll inquire the development team But later I was emailed the following............. The development team had clarified that version 1.0.8 is actually older than 1.0.77. Please download and install 1.0.77 from here, then you can use it to install any new purchases: https://www.pgmusic.com/support.updates.win.dm.htmso 2/10 for the development team's version control but 10/10 for Chantelle and Live Chat who got rhe answer in minutes.

I agree, it can be confusing. The trick is to not look at the periods as being decimal points, but just delimiters. So 77 is a higher value than 8

Right - 1.0.8 is REALLY old - probably the first build. 1.0.77 is the latest as of Dec 15 2023. The newer builds have an automatic check for updates so they know if there is a newer version. 1.0.8 did not have that capability.

well after looking up what delimiter means i'm still not much wiser. at least i wasn't told to RTFM. the office IT support team told me once 'you should upgrade your personal knowledge base' and i think this is another case in point. anyway my point about live chat and chantelle providing fast and helpful advice still stands.

thanks audiotrack - so build revision on my original was 8 (and not as i assumed 80) and the new one is 77? makes some kind of sense
consider my personal knowledge base expanded

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
