on the style picker click Options, then set dialog options, then check the box bottom 2 check boxes then okay
Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.
Where has this option gone in the style picker? Surely it's not been done away with, I must be missing something?
That's actually the default behaviour in 2024 when you click the play button. Rob's fix sets it also to play on a double-click on the style.
The [Demo] button should play the pre-recorded demo, though at present my install isn't doing that.

Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. Kawai MP6, Korg M50, Ui24R, Saffire Pro 40. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11; Win8.1: Scarletts BIAB2022 UltraPAK, Reaper, a bunch of stuff.
I'm either doing something wrong or none of those things work. I don't have 2023 loaded but as far as I remember, you could double click on a style to preview the demo. You could also click the the green play button, and above that was another play button to preview the style using the chordsheet.
No matter what I try now, the only option is to play the demo or actually apply the style by double clicking. Latest version 1108.
I'm running 1108 (2024) and I set the "Doubleclick" setting in Stylepicker that MarioD shows in the image (attached to his post) and when I double-clicked on any style, it generated the chordsheet and played the chosen all style. Also, if you click on the "Generate" button that's located between "Apply" and the green 'play' button, this will generate the chordsheet with the selected style and start playing from bar 1.

Thanks Noel. I can get that behaviour to work but it applies the style instead of just giving you a preview. In most cases it's not a problem because I don't use it often, but if I change my mind about any of them then I can't just go back to where I left off because the style has been applied.
In the previous versions I could demo according to the chord sheet, then if nothing worked I could close the style picker and try changing out some realtracks instead. Feels like another backward step to me, unless of course I'm still not getting how it works now but I've tried everything I can see.
You are unfortunately right that testing a new style with this double click is "definitive", in the sense that you cannot go back, unless you use the "revert to saved" button.
I understand what you mean now. Sorry, I was a bit slow. I've just been playing around and there doesn't seem to be any way to test-run a style without it loading (which is what you're saying). I'll report this to the development team because being able to test a style before loading it into a song is pretty important. It's one of BIAB's strengths.
At the moment, it seems that it's necessary to save the song before testing styles and then if you want to revert back to the original style, the song has to be reloaded.

It seems that way but then it begs the question, what is the option for ... "Play a preview (portion) when auditioning"

Is this what you've found too?

Yes, that's what I've found. I'm hoping it's just another bug rather than a new "design feature"
By the way you can turn the "use chord sheet" option off and it plays the demo song just like 2023. The demoing x number of chords currently has a reported bug.
Studio One (latest version), Win 11 23H2 , i9 -10940X 3.3 GHz, 32GB Mem, a 4K 40" monitor, PreSonus Studio Live III Console as interface/controller. secondarily test on Reaper, Cakewalk, and S1 on Surface Pro 3 Win 10 (latest versions).
The option to audition styles with the chord sheet without loading is quite important and a functionality that seems to ahve been lost. any sign of restoring it?

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
