Everything is spot on. Music doesn't get any better than this!

Al, you are way too generous with those great comments… but, hey, we’ll take it. 😀

Yes!!! What else to say? I've already said that Janice gets better with each song, and I'm not about to change my mind on that at all, after this. Clear tone, perfect bluesy sound, the harmonies make me smile ... the inflection on "dirty two-timer" made me really grin ... this is top-notch, from first to last. That guitar playing, too!!! Well done, all - it's a privilege to listen to that which you create! smile

A Stunning Mix. You don't even think about it as it plays. It's just Right.

Nice album cover.

This is as good as anything you have ever done.
That's saying a Lot.

So. Good.

That is hugely appreciated floyd. We had a lot of fun with this project and thanks for the mention of the photo - it was fun also.

Nice to have such a great review for our first tune of the year!

Of course, Peter's not slacker, either! That's some impressive guitar playing!

I wasn't sold on the BGVs being realistic because they were a bit too parallel... But I was sold on them being exactly the sound the song called for. It brought to mind some of those 1920's cartoon, and I had the image of a chorus of inanimate objects singing out the BGVs while some Betty Boop-esque character chides the audience with her Janice's voice. laugh

Love it!

Thank you! That BGV harmony, which includes Janice’s part of course, is what in our bluegrass years we called “car horn harmony” 😀 because yes it is tight. Janice sang in bluegrass trios for years and it was expected that all syllables, no matter how short, be perfect in harmony and phrasing. Indeed parallel was the objective.

J&B

PS: On the other hand Janice loves cartoons and music from that period.

Hi Janice, Bud and Peter,

Yes, I know I'm late at the party, but I think you don't mind.
You had a lot of work answering everyone else here, and now just me! (well, almost).

I loved the song, the title of course, and that delicious swing. Very, very good song!
Even my wife was swinging on it! She never does that on my songs, ah.. 1 or 2 times.
But most of all I enjoyed Janice! Her vocal really shine when she treatens with that devil and what he is going to do with you!
This old song (almost a hundred years old, you said) by that lady Bessie has really been reborn (again) through your treatment.
I think she must be thrilled to her bones (...) when she hears you singing her song. I think she would have loved to sing it with you, but maybe God or that devil...
Ok, I leave that for what it is. You all did a good job, but Bud, Janice is right; the BG still sound a tiny bit like chipmunks (you started...).

Cheers,
Hans

Wonderful vocal! And smokin' hot guitar solo, I could hear shades of Jimi during the solo too.

Love the ending with that held note!

This sounds great you three, I love the way you take these old classics and put your own spin on them.

We appreciate that Dave. Couldn’t ask from more … especially from a great blues man!

Hello Janice, Peter & Bud
You have created an absolute TOP song
Janice. You really sing the song brilliantly. That's exactly how it should be.
Bud. The sound is absolutely top class.
And now to Peter. WOW - that's a guitar solo you can't get enough of. For me it's the best solo I've heard on the forum so far.
Congratulations to you all
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

J&B,

Very high quality treatment of the old PD song! The key chosen really seems to suit Janice's vocal treatment well and the background vocal repeats really make the song for me! Nice guitar!

Thanks, TB

Boy does Peter ever do an awesome intro to the song. Very cool. Awesome vocal and harmonies Janice. Just loved the backing band. Such a cool groove. Loved the production Bud. Perfect mix and master. Sorry for the late reply. Took quite awhile for me to work back up to the first page of the forum. Lots of awesome music showing up here..

What a great blues rock shuffle, really hot arrangement with punchy drums and hotter than hell guitar solo by Peter, probably the best shredding heard on this forum. And Janice's singing is so powerful and fiery that I can see even the devil himself dancing and crowd-surfing in the audience, those harmonies are also pleasantly evil smile

Janne

Janne, thank you so much. You mentioned all our objectives and we three could not hope for a better response than yours. This a review to share with family and friends!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
