Shadow Road I am way out of my comfort zone again, I am trying to sing. This time my pitch correction didn't erase its self! This is a story based on a road in our area, although I did exaggerate the story quite a bit. Many thanx to my friend and fellow musician BobH. He came up with the chord progression and helped with the mix. BiaB = Codger - Swing 16ths Bluegrass Tempo = 75 BPM Drums - Steven Slate's SSD5 Bass - Ample bass - upright Guitar - Sonivox -Taylor Acoustic - 00-pick Strings - Realitone - Realibango Utility track - I modified this track - Synthmaster2 - Spacy Pad Utility track copied - I modified this track also - Crown Bass Effect - Synful Orchestra - Basses As always all comments are welcomed.

Mario,
Love this! Great story and awesome song. Love the production and the drums are really cool.
Your vocal is a real standout here - I think one of your best!

Ha! ha! ha! Gotta love a happy(??) ending! In the words of the great, departed Lewis Grizzard, "There's no story so good it can't be improved on". So...nice tune, great mix and perfectly suited vocals. Really enjoyed this one, Mario!

Bob Thanx Bob. I'm really not a singer but once in awhile I try. Ha! ha! ha! Gotta love a happy(??) ending! In the words of the great, departed Lewis Grizzard, "There's no story so good it can't be improved on". So...nice tune, great mix and perfectly suited vocals. Really enjoyed this one, Mario! I'm glad that you liked this one Ron. Thanx for the kind review.

HA! Love the ending!
I have ALWAYS wondered where the one-armed-man-with-a-hook lived.
Cool group of instruments. The combination is surprisingly "current" sounding - the mix of synth basses and banjo.
Good mix.

Hi, Mario. If only there were some sort of foreshadowing about how this song might end. Nice, although the reverb made some of the lyrics a bit hard to hear. You've been doing good outside your comfort zone. I guess the moral of the story (and the song) is that it's better to feel discomfort than not!

Hi Mario, I know what you mean about being outside of your comfort zone with the vocal, I'm the same whenever I do a vocal. I would much rather just be the guitar guy Yours doesn't sound too bad though. Love the story! And that ending is fun, didn't see that coming.

I like how the green trees formed a can o' peas --or did I get that wrong? Seriously good lyrics, Mario. Seriously funny. No one can deliver those lyrics and not sing with a tongue in the cheek, but your vocal sounds seriously good --serious comedy. It may have been a scary turn, but I much enjoyed the ride.

Different and fun ... cool to go down those experimental paths. Just as we were becoming more and more convinced ... then comes "I don't believe that nonsense." Shucks! Well done performances, arrangement and mix. Enjoyed it! J&B

Mario (and Bob) fun experiment. Scary theme that ended in almost a haiku I like the contrast of vocals + all other tracks. Unusual, but listens very well. Thank you for sharing, Misha. P.S. If you go full dry mono/phono vocals, it might add extra edge. Reminded me of a track by Lemon Jelly. They used it quite effectively. Check them out:

I have never heard of Lemon Jelly before today. They are a very interesting group. I see what you mean about a dry vocal, however you have to have a good voice for that to work Thanx for the suggestion.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
