Thanks.

Shoot - I'm seeing this now too with 2010.5 (2) All the realtracks come in as midi
I'm also seeing that I can drag realtracks from BAIB to RB just fine. But when I drag midi - the tracks come in playing twice as fast.
I guess I'll jump back to RB 2010 and see if things return to normal.
An obvious question here, are you sure you have the same tempo set in RB as you did in Biab? Real Tracks are audio files so they would ignore the tempo when you drag them into RB unless they're being regenerated but the midi tracks will automatically play at the RB tempo.

That's Bob - that was it for the drag and drop.
On the "Open" BIAB file it's only the RealDrums that don't come in as audio. So it looks like I can open the file in RB, then drag over the RealDrums for now.
thanks,

One possibility is that you have 'Allow RealDrums' unchecked in the Options-Prefs-Song Generation dialog, and you are loading songs that didn't have specific RealDrums assigned to them, but rather used the 'substitute MIDI drums for RealDrums' setting in Band-in-a-Box.
Also, make sure your Drums folder in Opt-Preferences-Song Generation-[Paths]... is correct. If you're still having trouble feel free to send us a sample file that has the problem, and we can take a look.

Hello raintalk, Quote:

Good point, I had overlooked that possibility. Yes, RealBand will treat automatic RealDrums substitutions as if they are "3/5", which is the default setting. If you have this set to 1/5 in Band-in-a-Box, the only time it will NOT substitute MIDI for Real, is if the MIDI drums are WAY better for that style than the RealDrums.
Of course, there are a number of ways to solve this - one is to just add the RealDrums to your song (Right-click on the Drums track) in BB. Another is to add them manually in RealBand.
Yet another solution, which doesn't involve editing any of your songs, is to make your own custom *.ds file. This can easily be done:
1. Find the file a_pgmusic.ds in your bb folder. Make a duplicate copy of this file, and name it whatever you want (but keep the .ds file extension). For example, MySubs.ds 2. Open this file with notepad or another text editor. This file defines all the MIDI/RealDrum substitutions, and users can make their own files. 3. Search and replace all the instances of "/1" and "/2" with "/3" (minus the quotes). Save the file. 4. Close and re-open Band-in-a-Box or RealBand if they were open. (this is an important step).
This will make RealBand behave as if it is set to 1/5. If you ever want to return to the default settings, just rename the .ds file extension to something else. e.g. MySubs.unused
Here is the file, which you can unzip and copy into your bb folder. http://nn.pgmusic.com/pgfiles/support/patches/MySubs.zip

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
