I am looking for Russel Demussel, Rharv and Gary C(curran). These are forum members that have been here since the early 90's with me, even though our nicknames don't reflect that. I have been using BIAB since the A drive floppy disk days with them.

Forgive me but I have not been on the forums for over a year and.I'm just recently been getting back into making music again.

Forgive me if they are no longer here either. Just trying to see if and where they are at anymore. Does anyone have any info? Please contact me.

RHarv is definitely still active.

Gary Curran hasn't been around for a few months, and Russel hasn't visited for a couple of years.

Still remember those names. RHarv and Gary are still around but I haven't seen Russel for years. From a good ole period in the past.

Welcome back.

The ‘joined’ dates associated with some of us who were here in the mid-1990s are not accurate because PG Music changed Forum software in the summer of 2000. The old posts, and post counts, were not preserved.

Russell became very involved with model airplanes if I recall correctly. His interest shifted away several years ago. He gave us a lot of chuckles, and served as the model for the Ivan sociology experiment.

Gary stopped out for a while, but returned. He remains one of the MIDI experts here.

Rharv is still active and has always been one of the most knowledgeable posters here.

I first used BiaB when it was available on the Atari, and I miss Russell and Gary doesn't frequent here as much as he used to. Rharv still posts a lot.

Things change. A lot of folks are gone, and a lot of new ones are here. Some, like Mac are gone to the great gig in the sky.

Bob, I know Mac stopped posting ten years ago, but we had a much more recent report that he was ok. Has that changed? EDIT: please see my post a few below. I really don’t know about Mac.

ps to everyone, if those old forum posts had been preserved, Mac would have had even more of a lead in total posts. Rharv and I are still not even close with an additional ten years worth.

I received a PM from a highly trusted source that I am probably wrong in my memory about Mac. I think I misinterpreted or misremembered a post. Please ignore my comment. I do not have any idea of Mac’s status or history.

Not sure if Rharv is still around but I am sure it's still his fault.

Started BAIB with V2 (yep, floppies), bought 9 Oct 90 (still have receipt). I joined the forum almost as soon as it was available, being senile I don’t remember when that was- early to no later than mid 90’s. Matt’s right however, that’s all lost to history since PG started over again in year 2K.

I like Matt and a handful of others here but I miss Mac the most, Mac and I are both USAF retirees and had other things in common. I truly hope he just dropped off of here, for whatever reason, and is not “on other side of the grass,” but God bless and RIP if he is.

I don’t come here much anymore for my own reasons.

Good luck all

Larry

Wow! It doesn't seem like it was that long.

He helped a lot of people around here.

Larry raises an interesting question: when did we start using the forum for PG Music? I am a programmer and in 1994 I wrote some of the earliest websites in my county (a college where I was the academic dean, and a public library where I was board president).

Many companies didn’t have a web presence until 1995. My memory says PG Music started in 1995. If that’s wrong, I’m only off by plus or minus one. It used to be possible to view early sites in the Internet Archive but I believe the first ones don’t show up.

That early PG Music forum was very active and helpful. It was quite well established when the forum software was changed over in late spring 2000.

According to an Internet search PGMusic started in 1988. I think that is right as about the same time I connected my Atari computer to a Korg DS-8 keyboard and purchased BiaB.

Mac was one of a kind, and so knowledgeable & generous... I've often wondered if Mac may have just changed his identity, as I did, and is still lurking about the Forum, enjoying his anonymity (and extra free time). He may still be a casual contributor with a different handle, who's kicked the Forum habit, and we just don't realize it... He could still be among us ~ cool

Mac was indeed one of a kind. Even under a different name he would stand out like a sore thumb.

Mario, oh yes. Let me be more precise. I was trying to recall when PG Music started their forum, not when the company started. I have some floppies from 1993 when I discovered this marvelous program in a Sam Ash store in New York City.

Can't really recall when I was first introduced to BIAB. But I do know it was via a couple floppy disks that a friend passed my way. I can only assume this would have been the same time I would have found the forum, unless the forum did not yet exist at that time. I can only guess circa early 90's. That would place me at about 34 years here in the forum. Does that make me an "older forum member"?

You're just a whippersnapper, Dan. And get off my lawn. laugh

I think we are close in age but as you say, we've been at this a long time. We might still be younger than many here.
