Somewhere In The World on Soundcloud
Somewhere In The World on YouTube

A song about...oh,I don't know...some innate search for some Eden maybe?

File:Somewhere In The World-C#m.SGU
Style is _BISECT.STY (Bisect British Psych Funk Rhythm)

RealTracks in style: ~689:Organ, B3, Background Pop Ev 085
RealTracks in style: 3442:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm BritPsycFunky Ev16 100
RealDrums in Song: BluesBBEven8^07-Cycling
RealDrums in Song: FunkSync16thsPerc^5-Snare,Ride
RealDrums in Song: FunkSync16thsPerc^ 12 Stems!!!!!!!!!!!!
RealDrums in style:FunkSanFran: a: Snare, Kick b: Snare, Open Hihat
As you can see, I added 3 other drum kits to this one, yet still managed to use the one that came with the Style. Dave Bell played guitar, and I played bass and sang.

Somewhere In The World

When you stand in line to pay for your gas
do you ever think the world should be free?
Maybe there's a soul somewhere in the world
who thinks a lot like you and me.
So maybe there's a sky where the air is still clean.
Maybe starched flags will unfurl.
Maybe o'er the fence the grass is still green somewhere in the world.

If there's ever going to be safe place
to let your children grow up knowing peace,
feelings have to change from careless to care,
and selfish ways have got to cease.
So maybe there's a land where we all live as one.
Maybe king's queens won't be pearled.
Maybe we'll all see that we all must belong somewhere in the world.

Change will come if we want it or not so it's better if we help it our way.
Time has come to improve or just rot. Go now. Or could we stay?

So maybe if we grow, we can live as we choose.
wanting nothing more that the merl.
Birds up in the air will give us our cues somewhere in the world.

Great song and great vocal. Love the song and message. Some awesome production here as well. Also, Dave's guitar and solo perfectly support the song and mood.

David is right saying 60's and there's nothing wrong with that!
I immediately recognized Daves tone when this started! Both of you gentlemen are excellent musicians/writers/producers!
Great song and performance...man this forum is blessed to have you guys involved in it!
Love the ending!

Good vocals, great guitars (both the real one and the smaller one with the 6 strings) and a really good production.
The icing on the cake is the "Somewhere in the world" outro, which I would actually have put already as a chorus between the verses because it's so catchy.

Marty, you and Dave really crushed this one! Punchy write, energetically performed, expertly mixed. That outro is super cool for sure. Just a lot of fun, like all your stuff.

Marty & Dave ...

You two gentlemen keep pouring great music all over us - no complaints! Great song and message - couldn't agree more with the message. Great lyric, vocal, and playing. Dave wails while Marty messages.

Congrats on another gem!!!

Take care,

Alan

Yet another great song lyrically and musically and with great DB lead guitar. Heck, don't you guys ever get tired of not disappointing! … Rhetorical. … laugh

Thanks, Bob. Spent a week with Chuck Rainey once and that's who Dave reminds me of. In the studio they can both play any song and make it sound Goldilocks perfect.

Thanks, Dan. I understand that the song is more of a Utopian Fantasy, but there's still hope that the grass is somewhere greener.

Thanks, Brain. Good idea, but I wanted it just to repeat to a fade, although I ended up liking the last-chord harmony.

Thanks, Chay. Rhetorical questions are easier cuz they don't expect and answer, but I got one. Nope. (on the other hand, I do have a few clunkers that won't show their faces here)

Yeah, maybe there's somewhere, but there's no sense looking for it. If I took over the grass that was greener on the other side of the femce, I'd have to maintain it. Hey, I'd like to see that dancin in the chair thing, floyd. Glad it got ya boppin'.

Thanks much, Tom. If I remember, the song was kinda written around the ending. You know, all I had was an ending (the desert), so I had to come up with the rest (the main course) to sort of fit.

Let’s all get in the van (or ask Scotty) and go to that place now!

We love the uplifting message and your joyful vocal performance makes us believers in the possibility.
Janice said she could picture all of us together, standing shoulder to shoulder, singing the outro.

Excellent video.

Dave’s guitar is perfect as are those bass lines.

Nice mix also.

Peace!

Hi, Marty.

I was just thinking how glad I don't have to mix down drum tracks, and I see you've got 12 stems to deal with here.

Yow!

I was thinking as I listened "There's no chorus in this song", and then the guitar solo comes in. So I figure, "OK, he's substituted a guitar solo for a chorus" and then you go and fool with a huge chorus at the end. Ha! laugh

Nice work, both by you and Dave. But that comes as a surprise to no one. wink

Thanks, David. I really enjoy you telling me how you experrienced the song. Right!? You nailed it, sir. I couldn't fit the chorus in the song (sonically), so used it as the anthem outro --which, by the way, was supposed to fade, but I like the last sustain chord, so...

Very good band, solo and vocals, Marty!

I really like how the song develops. Especially those background vocals.
As always, the solo is played so well by Dave. He and you are a very good team.
I heard it some days ago on YouTube, but I almost sang along now; "somewhere in the world"
Still difficult to see where such a place could be...
Not here anyway.

Somehow I missed this one.
You can't beat a song opening with Dave wailing on the gee-tar.
Groovy and funky band. Love that last "world" harmony vocal.
I like the sentiment in this song.

Maybe somewhere in the world there would be a land without need to write this kind of song, but that would be a place I wouldn't like to stay, because I would be missing this innate search. You describe it very beautifully, another positive view with birds up in the clean air.

Enjoyable melody, pleasant band and vocals - the harmonies in the last section sound great! And who could be better to tell about this world with a guitar than master Dave.

Janne

BTW. yes, I'm one of your very happy Spotify followers, should be a fastly growing number if there is any justice somewhere in the world (you don't find my music on Spotify, sorry about that, but maybe some day somewhere in the world when I have nothing else to do...)

Marty,

The people to collaborate with are very important, and I choose them carefully.
Fortunately, I have been able to meet good vocalists, pianists, and lyricists, and have been able to continue creating music.
I'm really grateful to them.
I think you and Dave are really compatible.
It's clear that each piece is the work of two people who truly understand each other.
This work is no exception.
The teamwork between the two is amazing.
Also, as always, the video is great.
Enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks, Scott. Yeah, it was supposed to be a fade, but I like how that last harmony chord sounded. The merl is a bird --in the song to hint at the idea that God takes care of the birds, so... The important part is that it rhymed with world.

Ah, The innate search, The Holy Grail, Eden. Just a dangleing carrot I suppose. Janne, I'm thrilled that you take the time to listen. Yeah, that kind of justice requires promo funding, so I'm out. This way I can say I know each and every one of my followers. wink

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
