Here is another sample using LTNBRAZL style. (The melody was only step entered from your screen capture, so it lacks the required nuances of a real performance)
BIAB & RB2024 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
My chords don't play in tempo with the notes. Seems like the chords play early.
How did you enter the notes? Was this through the notation editor, or from a live keyboard recording? If it was through step entry, well, yes, that's exactly what I would expect. If it was through step entry it will be rigid and without human nuances. That's outside of the control of the program, except for trying something like the menu option Melody > Edit Melody Track > Quantize, Time Adjust > Humanize Melody menu.
You could perhaps also select the notes in the piano-roll editor and drag them early.
I don't think you'll ever get step time entry to sound realistic. You have to record your own.

I just don't think that this is human feel problem. The chords are half a beat to a full beat in front of the timing. Beat one should be beat one, no? This is step entry. I'm not a keyboardist. Step entry is not the problem.

I think what is important to understand, is that BiaB doesn't really support any time signature at all. It has that matrix with either 3 or for 'slots' in each cell. Each slot can be a beat, more than one beat, or a fraction of the beat, depending on the style.
I've made one cell two 6/8 bars, a half 6/8 bar, two cut time bars, one cut time bar, 3 fifths of a 5/4 bar followed but the remaining 2 fifths in the next cell, and so on.
Once you get past he each numbered cell must equal one bar of music, it opens up enormous possibilities in BiaB.

Well, all I know is that the playback of these cut time samba grooves is a half beat/full beat early. They play earlier than the visual, and the step-entry method, which I've paid for, is on the beat, but the rhythm section is not.

What are you using for your MIDI synth? (I didn't read the whole thread completely)
I hesitate to mention this, because it would seem you must have done this a log time ago, but it could just be that your RealTracks and MIDI synth playpack are out of sync. BIAB has an adjustment for this. Go to Options, Preferences, Audio. You will see settings to delay the audio in milliseconds. You can also run the Soft Synth Latency Adjust (button) and adjust the timing of what plays (both audio and MIDI) until it syncs up.
This adjustment can sometimes need tweaking if your choice of audio driver change, such as from ASIO to WAS.
----------------------------------------------
Also, I didn't see an answer to AudioTrack's question in which he showed you notation and asked if that was correct. In the first measure, is there a quarter note followed by eight notes, or an eighth followed by sixteenths? BIAB did add the ability to handle some limited cut time signature notation in the last year. It was at the request of Bobflatpicker for Bluegrass, and me for samba.

Yes, the notation is the same as what I'm using, from the lead sheet. 8th notes because it's in cut time. The Samba styles are using MIDI, except for Real Drums.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
