Hi All,

Here's an old song that sat around for years without being recorded - something short, simple & folky.

This is called Ghost Of Love.

I parked my Jeep by the river to think
Skipped a stone and watched it sink
Now I’m on the bank as a clipper blows
That’s how the ghost of love rolls

I head on home as the night comes down
Thinking about all the roads to town
I see you through the darkness that grows
That’s how the ghost of love rolls

The sheets hold the imprint of her body after dawn
And the bed remains unmade long after she’s gone

We faced the day with a sense of time
Years wash over all of our crimes
Unsteady love is what we chose
That’s how the ghost of love rolls
Yeah that’s how the ghost of love rolls
Baby that’s how the ghost of love rolls
Baby that’s how the ghost of love rolls

BIAB Tracks:
0362: Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Ev 085
0700: Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotes Ev 085
2364: Synth, ElectroFlutes, Rhythm Ev 085
2811: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Ev 085
RealDrums: Mallets and Cajon

As always - thanks for listening!

Bob

Bob, this is fantastic.
I really liked your vocal and your lyrics.
You picked the perfect backing band for this song.
I also liked the song's dynamics.
Great mix.

"That's how the ghost of love rolls..." Ha! Great lyric, very cool song! Like the simple arrangement and the synth accents. Everything sounds exactly right. Fantastic job.

Bob, you always seem to pick the right band for the song. The synth works well. Some fine lyrics and a good delivery make this worth rescuing from the circular file. Another great job, Tom

Man, you write so many good ones that they overflow into some file where you bring them out, brush them up, and make them sound so good. A true song-writing machine.

Great opening: "I parked my Jeep by the river to think
Skipped a stone and watched it sink" Then it continues with that great imagery you always fit into your lyrics. Bob Dean's simple is simply outstanding.

Enjoy whatever happens!

I really like the instrumentation on this song. Soulful as ever!

Bob,

The pain of heartbreak is oozing.
Your vocals match these lyrics well and captivate my heart.
It is very impressive that it begins with only percussion and bass accompaniment.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

It's quite dark at first but becomes clearer later. It's good and you have a voice for these atmospheres.

Ah, lovely. I really like the way the arrangement morphs after the 1st verse and continues to bring sweet surprises like the flute solo.

Hi Bob,

Like Floyd, you are indeed a wonderful poetic songwriter!
I'm amazed this song lied on the shelf so long as you said.
But like older wine, it's getting even better!

I liked how you started the song, with the drums, the bass and your vocals.
And then the guitar came in. Great!

I wish I had the luxury of having tunes like this laying in a drawer waiting to be recorded!
I have noticed that you are experimenting with some new sounds in your tune and they are sounding great! This was another very good song post from you!

Take care, TB

Bob...this is another exquisitely written performed and produced song of yours...man I love the tracks you create...so tasteful and pro sounding...so check under the bed...maybe there's some old scrap pieces of paper with more lost gems on them under there wink

We’re glad you recorded this one, Bob.

The band’s light touch is a perfect example of “less is more” and the flute accentuated the melancholy vibe of the lyric.

Excellent vocal and mix too!

Hi, Bob.

Exactly what it says on the tin. You make it sound so easy.

What they said - so much good stuff fit into a such a small song. smile

As usual Bob, great lyrics.
I wasn't keen on the bass drums intro and thought maybe a simple held guitar would sound better there.
Good one.

Boy do the drums and bass lay down a cool groove for this Bob. Awesome vocal and lyric. That synth had a Beatles-esque vibe. Well done..

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
