Although I visit the PG music forums on a daily basis to read almost all the comments, I seldom post any comments, especially bad news. I recently found out my old 'Back Trackers' music partner Russell Stanton (Russell Demussell) passed away during the fall of last year. He'll be sadly missed in the music industry.... R.I.P., Russ, my good friend.

Very sad to hear that. He was certainly a highly respected and much admired member of these forums.

Guy was never anything but nice and helpful to me. Sad news.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

I recall he checked in here quite a few years ago to let us know that he wasn't posting as much because model airplanes had taken much of his interest. Sad news indeed that he is no longer with us. He was always upbeat and kind here on the forum and asked lots of questions. His most famous contribution here might be as the inspiration for the Ivan experiment.

I think this may well be Russ's obituary as it seems to tie in with all his interests.

Thanks Musiclover, yes, that certainly would be correct. I enjoyed reading about his life.

He was a nice guy, and sadly, no one gets out here alive. It was nice knowing him, even if only on-line.

I never personally met Russ, but over the decades I have dealt with him here on PG Music, I found a friend that was engrossed with music and music making as I was.

I know his daughter has an amazing voice and he made tracks for her that he posted on his website from time to time.

I’m sorry to hear of his passing. Truly a sad moment.

RIPower RusselDeMussell. YOU were one of a kind brother.

Thanks for the post Joe, although as you stated it was a post we would rather not have to read. Every time I catch myself saying "Good On You" I think of Russell. May he Rest In Peace.

Isn't it sad the good guys who pass away never get to read what we say about them? Russell was a really nice guy, as was Ian Frazier. And to not know Russell passed for almost a year sounds crazy, but who in his succession would know to come on here and let us know?

That is one of my biggest concerns is that because I am such a big loner that nobody would think to even look for me or try to call me if I suddenly just vanish from the internet. I have had several folks check in with me here from time to time when my activity slows down and that was quite gratifying to know that someone A) noticed and B) inquired.

For anybody in a similar situation, there are some web pages that will send a text to people you designate if you don't check in on the services web page by the time you designate. I use one called Snug and if I don't check in by 9, 2 texts go out, and those 2 people know to email first, text me second, and FB message me third, and if they don't hear back to then call me. And if I don't answer, THEN send the Cavalry. And oddly, my biggest concern is that there would be nobody tending to my dog if I am laying here dead for days.

I can just see the comments here when I'm gone.

"FINALLY!! No more of his sarcastic, arrogant nonsense!!!"

I also now have something called a NOK-box (NOK being next Of Kin). It's a pile of papers that cover everything you can think of that you need to tell your estate about. I will probably use not even half of them because of how detailed it is. You fill them out and put them in labeled folders and them into a filing system with the NOK Box sticker on it. Will, house deed, car/boat/bike titles, designation of who gets what property... really great idea actually. To that end I have also started selling off some of my gear so I can decide who gets it and what the price should be rather than my estate. Much more to move along into hands that will use it.

Another option is the book I'm Dead Now What:
https://www.amazon.com/Im-Dead-Now-What-planner/dp/B0883X87MD

In it you list everything you want done, who gets what, and who get contacted after your death.
We have them all filled out.

My executor is an attorney who also happens to be a death doula, and that book is on her handout sheet she gives at seminars, as is the NOK Box stuff. She's my best female friend and she and her husband are two of the smartest, nicest people I have ever known. She is also a clinical hypnotherapist and gives breathing therapy sessions for people who have extremely emotionally wrenching jobs like people who work in hospice care centers, people who work in animal shelters and have to deal with the misery that comes with seeing mistreated animals. With her guidance I am getting everything in order for what I hope doesn't happen until at least 2032.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
