6 Strings 3 Chords and a Beer

This jam had a very unusual beginning. On May 5th BobH and I were jamming, i.e. just having fun. Bob played the rhythm guitar part and I was playing a lead. During the playback Bob started singing. I immediately muted my part, grabbed a mic, plugged it in and hand held it in front of his face; I wanted to capture his vocal as he was making up the lyrics. Because of other commitments were couldn't get back to this until now. Just remember that this is a live on the spot vocal so it may not make sense in spots, but we thought it was worth posting as is. I would like your opinion on this quick and dirty jam.

I'm sure that Bob and I will polish this into an "official" song sometime in the near future.

I played the bass part on my fretless bass and the EP is from BiaB style Delusion MIDI Classic Pysch Rock. The EP sound is from Lounge Lizard, 3 Custom Electric Pianos. Because we didn't use a click track the timing varied around 46.nnn BPM. Thus I had to heavily modify the EP to fit the song.

As always all comments are welcomed.

{edit} I forgot to add the lyrics:

6 Strings, 3 Chords, and a Beer

Sitin’ around just thinking
I guess I was just drinking
When I thought about those times we had
I guess I was old then
I guess I wasn’t much older
This is all I ever had
6 Strings, 3 Chords, and a Beer
What the hell am I doing here
I guess I know by now
Could have shown somehow
That things just ain’t what they appear
So give me
6 Strings, 3 Chords, and a Beer
6 Strings, 3 Chords, and a Beer

Mario,

That's a cool jam and BobH sounds excellent. You have the elements of a great song here. The bass, guitar and MIDI are working together perfectly.

Enjoyed this and look forward to seeing where it goes.

There is a funny side to the title and I find the live performance very good.

A great song was born from that jam session. I like it! Great title (aka "A Couple of Old Coots Reminiscing" laugh ) I would love to hear a polished version in the near future.

Thanx Bob. BobH and I should be getting together in a month or so (life keeps getting in the way of getting together) so hopefully we can start to work on a finished version then.

Thanx. But these old coots do get together and have a couple of beers, 12 strings (2 guitars), and who knows how many chords we come up with!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Ha! That was fun. Of course I misread the end of the title as "...and a BEAR" so was expecting some woodsy hijinks involving wildlife. Though your topic is closer to "wild life" than "wildlife", I was not disappointed. Yes, more please!

Thanx Ron. Wild life for a couple of old timers like Bob and I does consist of 6 strings, 3 chords, and a beer!
